When the old district was split and Harlan went with Pineville to form district 7 Lynn Camp and Williamsburg got the bad end of the deal having to win a region going through any Lexington school. In most years Harlan should be playing for the #1 seed in Dist. 7 which should get you to the second round of the playoffs almost every year. BTW cat daddy Harlan has improved as much this year as any team that I have seen from the start of the season until playoffs.

Sorry DC I didn't mean to get your screen name backward, sometimes I tend to get mixed up. It has been about six weeks ago, and I can't tell you why they have improved so much but they have and I really feel that if they can get past the big hurdle they will play them tough and possibly get a win and move on to the regional finals. Now as to what the big hurdle is, the cold weather and which team handles it the best, I know that every team will have to be in it this Friday, but some teams wilt during this time of year and I really think that playing when its 20 degrees it will be a major factor.

I see what you are saying and I agree with it to a degree. However, those teams this year ( minus Hazard) are not very good. It is simply the truth. I am not taking anything away from any of them but its the truth. Heck, the last few years Cawood was not very good, I still loved them but it didn't change the fact that they just wasn't a very good team. Hence, if you are bad at 70 degrees you will be as bad if its 20 degrees. Harlan should - could -and will win big. Pikeville just isn't the same team as years past. The Harlan faithful should be very cross if Harlan loses this friday. At least thats the way I see the big picture!

I guess that after you see a team go 2-8 and play some pretty good teams decent, that its hard to picture going over to Pikeville and walking away with a win. You are right in your thinking that the region as a whole is down from years past, and if you are bad at 70 degrees you could be worse at 20. My point is that most kids in Harlan Co think when it is cold outside its no longer football season and that is just another mind set that our guys have got to get over to be able to climb the ladder for more statewide success. How's this lets send both our teams across the mountain and bring back two wins, if so it could rank up with some of the most successful weekends in Harlan Co sports history!!!

I order for Harlan to win a state championship, listen to this murder's row for 5 weeks. They would have to beat round #1 Allen Central, round #2 Pikeville, round #3 Hazard, round #4 Lex Christian, round #5 Beechwood (if the favorites win)! Tell me thats not a tough class A road!! However, Pikeville is winnable but the kids need to realize that it is a very tough place to play. Those people, both players and fans, expect to win and the sure wont roll over. Pikeville wont give it up, Harlan will have to take it! Places like Pikeville, Corbin, Belfry, Ashland, etc are what HS football is all about....if you beat them at home, you have accomplished something!!

I saw Pikeville play twice this year and I have seen Harlan once both during the second half of the season. This game will not be close. The Dragons will win this one going away. If Harlan does not win this game then they will have blown a perfectly GREAT chance of going to the regional finals. I must say that I am neither a Dragon fan nor a Panther fan but a football fan.

IMO, Harlan has a great oppurtunity to win Friday but Pikeville is not going to roll over and play dead, just as others has mentioned. They know how to win late in the season, but I must say I have seen the Dragons play equal with some good 5A schools late in the season. Their team is finally jelling together and they definitely are getting that Football swagger and if they take that attitude to Pikeville and play smart hard nosed football, then I really do believe they can come home with the win.
