I really think if Boyd is to have a shot at winning this game, Evans needs to stick to the gameplan he's used the past two games with Arthur taking most of the snaps at QB and Wilson at RB and WR. Boyd is 3-0 when Wilson lines up at other positions, and 4-4 otherwise. Arthur's arm opens up the field and allows Boyd to do a lot more offensively. I think this strategy and home field give the Lions a chance to advance. :thumb:

On a side note, I know you're a Raceland guy Doc, I was impressed with the Ashland area teams this weekend, Ashland, Boyd, Fairview, Johnson Central, Russell, Raceland, and Paintsville all won their games.

 

I was happy to see that as well. I love seeing the local teams win playoff games.

They were undefeated in their district and run varied offenses based on who is at quarterback. They have an outstanding athlete in Zac Wilson who is a terrific runner. They are a little limited in what they can do when he's at quarterback. When they play the Arthur kid at quarterback the offense is a lot more dangerous. He's got a cannon for an arm and decent mobility. They have a pretty good offensive line that is good size and have played together as a unit for two seasons now. They've been up and down this year mainly due in my opinion to the coaches not settling on Arthur at qb earlier with Wilson moving all over the field to help get the ball in his hands and able to make plays in the open field. I think this will be a close game, especially if Boyd is close at the half, they seem to be a better 2nd half team.

I was really happy to see Fairview win that game on the road after such a drive. Nice win for their program. Unfortunately their reward is playing the top team in 1A next.

It'll be a special night for someone. Boyd County has not advanced to the second round since 1973 and Knox Central has never been to this point.

Do you mean 3rd round? B/C Boyd has been to this round a few times. Coach Mills and Russell should know that, there last year at Bell Boyd beat us in the 1st round.

You're right. I meant to say had not advanced beyond the second round. Mills even mentioned the '03 upset of Bell in the article that I read in the Ashland newspaper. Thanks for the correction.

That's an average beating of 44-5. No wins, no close games,six shutouts. Only one game with more than one TD scored. Almost every road game was homecoming. I recall hearing of one practice where only 8 kids showed up. Now, in just the 5th season since, KC sets a new school record with every win. Whenever the carriage turns back into a pumpkin, this already goes into the books as the winningest season ever for Central.

Some very depressing numbers for sure. Coach Mills has brought them light years. Just wish they were in a different district or classification and then they would really shine. I belive them or Rock either one could win the West 4A. Not throwing off on those teams in the West just the fact that our district is that good. Throw in LC and Boyle and that is the best 5 4A teams in the state. IMO
