I guess I found the answer to why Lafayette didn't run as much as they did during the season. Shaw, their top back injured his knee on defense early in the game. I believe it was on the play that Jordan Wilson was dragging about five Generals down the field.

 

Loved what I saw out of the Neers tonight. With the week 11 bye week, I had reservations that they would have lost the momentum they had gained during their three game win streak to finish the regular season. I should be ashamed of myself to think like that, from the opening kickoff they got after it, and showed a ton of positive emotion. I remember talking to coach Marsberry during the Campbell/Boone playoff game last season, and he was focused on getting over the hump as a program. Not just being respectable, but expecting to win each game they play. They entered the season as the favorite to win the district, they were beaten soundly by NCC, lost a game against Conner they were in command of, got behind early to Ryle and lost, then flat out embarrassed by Boone. I'm very proud tonight, this team has come a long way in the past month and it will be hard to wait on the next six days. Tonight was a huge step for the program, next week will be no easy task, but I have to believe this team will be very hungry for a victory.

Congrats to all the players and coaches. That is a great win. Jordon Wilson is a beast. Enjoy the win and then get back to business.

Congrats to Coach Marksberry, his staff and most of all his players. These young men had a rough start this year and now have things working like a well oiled machine. Next week will be a tough game. These men are hungry for payback and will deliver it to Conners front door. There were a lot of bad calls made tonight by the refs and alot of dirty playing by the Generals but our men held their heads high and showed great sportsmanship. Looking forward to next week.

Wow that's kind of surprising. Marksberry has really brought that program along. I can remember just 4 years ago they were one of the worst teams in nky.

I just found out that this is only the second time that SK has made it to the second round and have never made it to the third.

Lafayette recovered but seemed to have a little help moving the ball forward. Did anyone else see the same thing?

 

I'm still giddy, even though I almost had a coronary driving back home with faulty wipers, dirty windows and a very narrow I-75 with trucks running for the Winston Cup finale. I expect every beating heart in the city of Independence to make it down to Hebron, this is the biggest game in the 42 year HISTORY of Simon Kenton football, no reason to miss this one. On a side note, I had a good feeling about this one, Lafayette and Billy Ray Lickert ended my father's high school career in the 2nd round of the '57 state basketball tournament, I have to think he is one happy man up in heaven after we closed down shop for the old Lafayette (Ishmael) stadium. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but my brother's girlfriend's last name is Ishamael. That's some good Karma.

That is a big win for the SK program. Winning next week would be even bigger. SK is a program to keep an eye on. They have developed a successful pee wee football program out there. The kids now think football and many have played winning football before they get to high school. I expect continued success for SK.

I saw the problem with trhe kick off as well as all th SK fans there saw. I also sat at the fifty and now for a fact that the ball never went ten yards even after he slapped it. He fell on it about a foot and a half short of ten yards. The ref on that side kept moving the spot forward for them. We all saw it and let them know we saw it. Those refs are living proof that with fifty dollars and an open book test anyone can ref a game.
