But on the flip side, had they played a tougher schedule, would they still have had the same record that they had going in to the playoffs? I think that's what he may have meant by them being overrated all season.

Bellevue only played 2 teams who finished the regular season with a winning record. (Beechwood and Newcath)

Why don't you get off there cases, they lost, i'm sure there is still another team for you to put down every chance available...

Good season Bellevue, good luck next year, hopefully you remember this..

I dont' think he was putting a team down as really just stating the harsh reality. Lets face it, their soft schedule came back to bite them....

Doesn't mean it was a bad season, they did what they were supposed to for 10 weeks. Just didn't in the playoffs. It happens...

I wasn't putting them down at all. Just stating that he may have thought they were overrated because of the soft schedule they played. Let's face it, they beat the teams on their schedule they were supposed to beat and got over hyped for it. When they ran in to decent teams they struggled or lost. (Beechwood, NCC, Lloyd, Gallatin)

Also there were a lot of excuses as to why the first game was close rather than just admitting Gallatin was as good as the Tigers.

Just because someone states the truth, doesn't mean they're putting a team down.

I didn't feel as if I for one was making excuses for them but stating the way I saw the first game. I obviously was wrong. Gallatin is a much better team than was given credit for. Hats off to their kids they never got tired although they basically played 12 to 14 kids. Their coaches did a great job in preparing the kids. Best of luck to the Wildcats the rest of the way.

Tigers time to start working for next year. Eta Rho I agree a tougher schedule may have benefited them this year.

Very classy post. Glad we agree on certain points. :thumb:

Who else could they have played? They have to play Dayton, Brossart and Bracken Cco. Dayton had a poor record but played the tigers very tough. They scheduled Newport who is a bigger school. I'm just curious how you get around this and who you think they should play?

I don't have any teams in mind for them to play. I would leave that up to the coaches to decide which teams are of their talent leavel or maybe just a little above. I do think they should replace Bracken and possibly Paris. On the other end I don't think they should play NCC any more. A blowout game either way doesn't do either team any good. Bracken has been a good team to play in the rebuilding years but I think Bellevue is past the rebuilding stage now. Not saying they're back to the days of old yet but they are making strides to get there. Paris may be OK to keep on the schedule I don't really know what they have coming up. As far as NCC I just don't see us competing with them year in and year out. It's kind of disheartening when you play them and see Bellevue kids playing for them. A one square mile school district just can't compete with open enrollment. All the respect in the world for NCC but it doesn't do our kids any good to go out and get beat by 40 or 50 year after year. All that being said I think to this point they played the schedule they had to play the last couple of years to keep interest up in football and to insure a chance at a winning season. They are doing a good job of building the program back to what it once was. Steady progress is being made and maybe a little upgrade in competition is what the next step is.

They are dropping Bracken, they had a former contract with the former coach and this was the last year, I believe. I heard the talks of Scott, and also some team from Tenn. Not really sure, but that's what people have been saying so everyone can sleep at night knowing the Tigers (one of the smallest enrollment schools playing football) are playing even bigger schools... :dancingpa

I like them playing Lloyd and Scott would be a nice addition. What about maybe Holmes or Holy Cross? I say drop Paris and Bracken Co and add these two schools. Why would a team from Tenn. drive 5 hrs to play Bellevue?

Savior it doesn't matter how big the school is in order to continue to improve the program its time to take a look at the schedule. Which it sounds like they are. We need to quit winning about being a small school. It's time to put in the work and take the next step in building Bellevue back into the program it once was. At one time their wasn't any winning about playing the Cov Caths the Campbell Co. Connors ect. We are going in the right direction and if we can keep the young kids that are in Bellevue now playing for Bellevue the future looks bright.:banana:

I agree. Although Holmes, Scott, Lloyd, and Holy Cross are all bigger than Bellevue, there isn't that much more talent in those schools. It's not really about the size of the school but rather the quality of the team they are.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bellevue play their district opponents (Dayton, Brossart, Bellevue, Beechwood, Ludlow) and then play teams like Gallatin, Pendleton, Cooper, Holmes, Scott, Holy Cross, Walton Verona, or even Grant Co to round out their schedule. All of those games are winnable and would challenge the Tigers enough to get them better prepared for the playoffs. Ludlow IMO played a much tougher schedule than Bellevue and it payed off for them as they're in the 2nd round of the playoffs now.

I'd personally keep NCC on the schedule though. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Plus there is a rivalry between those two. Many of those kids all group up together even though they went to different schools.

Wasn't Bellevue grtting criticized for playing teams like this about two weeks ago?

When were any of those teams on Bellevue's schedule? Other than Gallatin?

I believe it was Newport, Bracken Co, and Paris that Bellevue was getting criticized for playing.

I personally think a team like Pendleton, Walton, or Cooper would give Bellevue a game and possibly beat them.

While you are most certainly entitled to your opinion as to a team's schedule, at least keep in mind that scheduling is a two-way street. Just because you might think a team is a worthy opponent, doesn't mean you call them up and schedule them. They might not want to play you, they might have a full schedule, there might be other differences that prevent the game from being played. AND, while you might think some teams are strong right now, they may not be as strong in a season or two and you have a two or three year contract with them. This is especially true among the more cyclical smaller schools. I know Coach Eckstein well and I guarantee you he has worked to put together the strongest, most competitive schedule he can given all the variables involved. It's really easy to criticize when you don't have all the facts. Congrats to the Tigers for your hard work, dedication and effort. Congrats to the Wildcats, move on and play well.
