Are there any 8th graders around the state playing or dressing varsity this year?

Not sure, but Travis Elliott out at Ryle played freshman [possibly JV, I'm not too familiar with the situation] as an eighth grader. Regardless as a freshman this year, he is great, and he is only going to get better. It will be awesome to see him the next three years, in football AND baseball.

He might play basketball, lol I can't remember. And I'll be honest I DEF. didn't notice it was for basketball. Blonde moment!

Not this year, but Robbie Stenzel of GRC started as a 8th grader, and played in the State Tourney.

You had me fooled about Elliott, it sounded good since he's in the Mckinley family blood line.

I'm sure smaller schools with thin numbers will have some, just no big names yet.

I was just wondering because I just saw that Holmes has an 8th grader this year, Christian Mclendon playing varsity. I doubt very seriously he becomes a regular in the rotation, but to play strictly jv and varsity as an 8th grader with the talent they have in their soph and jr classes speaks volumes as to how good this kid is.

 

I'm very anxious to see him in action and see how good he truly is. I've heard nothing but good things about him and if I'm not mistaken, he was one of the top 2 scorers of his AAU team last summer that went 34-0.

Actually it was his middle school team that went 34-0. He attended Summit View (Simon Kenton feeder) his 6th and 7th grade year before transferring to Two Rivers during the middle of his 7th grade year and that's where he is now.

 

With him in the Summit View lineup along with Jared Swanson they were 55-0 over a two year period before he left. (34-0 6th grade; 21-0 7th grade)

 

His 6th and 7th grade year he played for the 8th grade NKY TarHeels and now he plays for both the Tar Heels and NKY Wolfpack as an 8th grader.

The folks from Pendleton are excited about watching this youngster play.

He has yet to play a game of high school ball but already has several colleges interested in him. He has had some major exposure playing AAU ball and has had two outstanding D1National tournaments the last two years. He was invited and had a very good showing this summer at the JR All American camp outside of Washington DC for the top middle school players in the country. He will also play for one of Kentucky's top aau team in the newly formed Kentucky Elite Basketball which features some of the top kids in the state in the class of 2013.

Too bad we play Pendleton Co away this year. I would love to see this kid play. I wish him and the PC team all the best this year.

Good Luck to the Cards this year also. The game with PC is a Saturday afternoon game.
