It's cold so I'm sick.

Did she tell you why they took it out?

No, I think when I was asking I was feeling under the weather and could only think about how I was upset that I just wasted a dose of medicine on one that wouldnt even put me to sleep.

Take it. It doesn't knock me out at all. My mom is an RN, and I trust her with my medical issues.

I would not have even bothered to ask had I not realized the difference from before. I take something different now to knock me out, but I can't think of what it is.

I work on the other end of the medical profession as a pharmacy tech, but since I haven't actually gone through pharmacy school yet I would definitely trust her on that one. I am curious as to what was taken out though.

Which type of nyquil are you taking?

lol, so I am NOT an RN and this will be a completely ridiculous way to name the "Type" but, its blue and its liquid. And I'm pretty sure it refers to nighttime maybe? But now it says NON Drowsy. :(

They took out the Antihistamine in the one you have, when buying it look at the label and try to find one with doxylamine succinate in it, that ought to help knock you out. If all else fails though, as long as you aren't taking any other antihistamines(or allergy medicine) you could take Benadryl(diphenhyramine) to knock yourself out at night as it tends to make people sleepier than most other antihistamines. In fact it is the sleep inducing ingredient in Tylenol PM and most over the counter sleeping medications.

lol I mean if you had fun, it's worth it I guess. And it sounds like you did.

Oh yes there was plenty of fun had by all. Now I'm paying for it.

I got Nyquil last night, and it does make you drowsy. Took it last night and slept like a rock.

I'm thinking that I have had a sinus infection for quite sometime now, you all my recall the thread about my teeth hurting a week ago. Well with the already existing sinus infection, factored in with the cold weather, and drinking, both of which can cause drainage and attack your immune system I think that's what caused me to get sick.

Good news is I just didn't drink for a few days, took some meds, and vitamin C like it was going out of style and am feeling much better now. Still a little achey and slow, but good enough to lift both yesterday and today and not feel too terrible.

Why then was it not until I spent most of the day yesterday washing cars in the cold that I got sick?
Because you came in contact with a virus.

Actually it does have an affect on your getting sick. It may not be the main factor but it is one nonetheless...
I'm not in full agreement with you there. I suppose it could lower your tolerance to a degree, but so can not eating properly.

So if you go from hot to cold to hot to cold conditions you will not get a cold?
No. You get a cold from a virus.

Being cold leaves you more susceptible to viruses. Viruses like to live in warm places which if you are in cold weather your body is warmer than the outside area.

I've got it now, sore throat, congestion and aches.

Explain summer colds.

Actually, I agree it can make some people more susceptible, but it's not the cause.
