November 13, 200817 yr Author Yes you do. And it looks like you are about to get 7400 acres of prime public land if the deal with Kimball goes through. I believe its 11,700 and something acres. I'm too worried bout all that land out there, we got our own. I'm not sure how all that public hunting is anyway. They were supposed to have auctioned that land off last saturday. Anyone heard anything on it? I heard there were some heavy hitters there or at least there people were

They were supposed to have auctioned that land off last saturday. Anyone heard anything on it? I heard there were some heavy hitters there or at least there people were It is a total of 11,700 acres but 7200+ of it is in Crittenden Co. They auctioned off the 71 lots individually then auctioned it off as one unit if someone wanted it. There was a bid of $23.3 million for the entire 11,700 acres by a timber managment company but it was rejected by Kimball. The timber company entered into a deal with the state to buy the land for the timber and then sell it to the state. The orignal plan for the state was to make the 7200 acres in Crittenden Co public recreation and most of the property in Union would be used for economic development. They are still negotionating on the price and Kimball has said they will make a decision by tomorrow. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2008/nov/13/still-no-decision-made-on-12000-acre-auction/
