Greenup will have a nice sized front line this season.

Elliott County's front line is 6'2", 6'1", and 6'1". OUCH!! Well that would be tall in the 1940s!!! Bigger they are the harder they fall or something like that!! Well like I said before, if you were judging by warm-ups and never had saw the Elliott boy's play you would say that other team may cream them.

East Carter being a good example. They are tall and are dunking every which way in warm-ups and Elliott is short and shooting normal layups. But we know how those scores turned out x 4 last year. Those style points in warm-ups don't count during the game!!!

Knipp is the only kid in their starting lineup over 6'2. Their front line will be 6'2, 6'1, and 6'7.

 

Their starting lineup will likely be 6'1, 6'1, 6'1, 6'2, 6'7. And the 6'1 kids are 6'1 on a good day. I'm not too sure the Faulkner twins are even 6'1.

Every team (even the top ranked teams) has some weaknesses. Most of the time they play away from those weaknesses. For Elliott it is size and depth. We don't need a lot of big men the way we play, but if we could borrow 6'6" Ricardo Johnson and put him along with 6'7" Timmy Knipp along with the twins and Ferguson that would be great. We will send him back after the state tournament (smile)!!! Nice try anyway!!! Look forward to seeing two teams loaded with talent, size, and athleticism when Holmes takes on Scott County.

 

ACTUALLY Ricardo is only 6'5.

 

I agree though if Elliot had another big man to go along with the trio of the Faulkner Twins and Ferguson, they would be VERY tough to stop.

Eta Rho: At the UK Elite Camp I was there when they measured every player in bare feet. Faulkner twins are both 6'1" and Ferg is 6'1.5". Depending on whether you round up or down the starting five is 6'1", 6'1', 6'1", 6'7" and 6'1" or 6'2" (Ferg). Any way you round Elliott is not TALL with the lone exception being Timmy Knipp. :ylsuper:

No doubt. St Henry beat SK three times that year by a combined 8 points. I still think that's one of the best teams in the 9th to never make it to Rupp. They were loaded that year with Brock, Nevels, and Kannady, all of whom were good enough to play at the next level and had good size.

 

I agree. So frustrating.

Had Brock got in to the politics of winning MR. Basketball and actually had someone campaign for him that year like Neltner did, he would have won it. He was the real deal.

I've spoke to Mike several times and saw him play a lot throughout high school. He was a great ball player but an even better person off the court.

 

He was very humble regarding his talent and athletic ability.
