I had braces before and need them again because I didn't wear my retainer but I am thinking about going this direction. I know its expensive but I am going to find out how much my Dental Care covers. Anyone know of anyone who has done this? I hear you lose a few pounds on it as well. I could go for dropping 10-15 lbs. I am going Monday for a free consultation. My job requires me to be face to face with people all day everyday and I feel like this would be the best option for me.

What is this procedure?

Your Invisalign treatment will consist of a series of aligners that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. And since your Invisalign system is custom-made for your teeth and your teeth only, with a plan devised by you and your dentist or orthodontist, you know you'll end up with a smile that truly fits.

Thats from the website.

How does this make you lose weight?

You have to keep them in like 23 hours a day and clean and yo teeth every time you eat so snacking requires more work.

Dang, 23 hours! I guess they would frown on my chewing tobacco habit. I am in the same situation you are, had some problems with the retainers, mine were cheap and broke easily, chose to let it go instead of driving to Winchester every 2-3 weeks.

Pretty sure you would have to quit chewing which might not be a bad thing.

I have to wear a clear retainer at night. I wear it pretty much every night and when I don't, it HURTS when I put it on. I hate it, but it's better than braces. I had braces for 3 years.

I guess I have been lucky. I never, and I mean never wore my retainer and my teeth have not moved.

I have one I wear at night, and if I go a few nights without it my teeth hurt.

I had braces. I also had retainers but I hardly ever kept them in my mouth so the times I did decide to put them in, they hurt my teeth so badly I just said screw it & quit wearing them which made my teeth move slightly back to the way they were before I even had braces.

^ Thats what happened with me but I just never wore them period. I figured it time to get them back in order before I regret it.

:thumb: Smart thinking. A while after I quit wearing my retainers, a few, not all, of my bottom teeth went back pretty close to how they were but my top teeth stayed straight. I was actually pretty surprised that my top teeth did not move.

I never wore my retainer and my teeth are still pretty straight. I actually like my smile better now! But I am probably going to need braces again eventually..=/
