The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round...

How many miles has your team traveled this year, I'd say Harlan County is setting the record.

Away Games:

Letcher County Central - 112 miles

Lynn Camp - 148 miles

Lee County, VA - 50 miles

Fleming County - 372 miles

Powell County - 266 miles

Somerset - 238 miles

Grayson County, VA - 302 miles

Taylor County - 356 miles ***Assuming this is the first round opponent.

1,844 Total Miles (Roundtrip)

That is the cumulitive of driving to Las Vegas, Nevada.:scared:

How many miles has your team logged onto the odometer of the yellow taxi this year? Just use mapquest, it is easy to calculate.

That's crazy mileage. Too bad gas didn't drop sooner; would've saved the HC Schools a mint.

The local teams in the Bardstown/Nelson Co. area have been fortunate, and been able to stay close to home, for the most part. In some cases, it does come at the expense of having to play tougher opponents in order to stay close to home.

Bardstown's longest trip has been to Bowling Green, everything else has been a round trip of about 110 or less.

Nelson County's schedule has been similar; it's longest trip to BG, and most everything else RT 100+/-

Bethlehem's longest trip is probably a toss-up between Caverna or Garrard County, and most of their stuff has been 100+/-

Highlands could have walked to 4 of their 5 away games in about 2 hours. With the exception of the Hopkinsville game (552 round trip) the Birds traveled a total of 92 miles round trip.

There is often talk about how close together the NoKY schools are, but I don't think people in rural areas realize just how close.

Holmes, 6 miles

Scott, 11 miles

Dixie, 12 miles

Colerain, a whopping 17 miles

How does the team get there, by bus or are they dropped off by parents, etc. during these games that take approximately 5 minutes to get to? I've always been curious to know that about inner city schools.

Fort Campbell’s one-way travel distance is 554 miles (1108 round trip):

8 miles – Clarksville (Scrimmage)

53 miles – Mayfield (Marshall County)

83 miles – Paducah Tilghman

96 miles – Union County

143 miles – Hancock County

171 miles – Fort Knox

Fort Campbell’s opponents on the other hand have traveled a total of 388 miles (776 round trip).

There is some true fan support in Harlan County for the amount of fans that have been traveling these distances week in week out.

Would be about 70 miles round trip if not for all those curves on Pine Mountain :scared:

Beth Haven has done some travelling as well... not as much as Harlan County, but road trips to Jenkins and Betsy Layne from Louisville easily put them over 1000 miles total.

Actually you go over Whitesburg Mountain I believe...and yep, you better pack your Dramamine or you'll be ready to hurl when you get there from all those curves. ;)

Man, that is a hilarious thread topic, I got a 6 yr old and 2 yr old and this song is still fresh in my memory. I never thought about applying it to school mileage but that is perfect. Mayfield has been pretty lucky this year, we have kept all the teams within Western Kentucky and that is probably due to the improvement of Western Kentucky teams in general. It seems though that in the years to come we may have a downturn and teams may not want to schedule us like in years past so we may start to see travel time once again, not sure at this point.

I think Highlands only has 1 1/2 school buses and a couple of vans.

I am doing this as a joke because Pulaski Co. hasn't traveled very far.

Ray Correll Bowl- 1 mile

Mercer Co.- 55 miles

Southwestern- 6 miles

Wayne Co.- 31 miles

Total- 93 miles- 186 Roundtrip.
