Maile returns to CCH lineup

Featured Replies

I fail to see any logic behind Luke Maile NOT helping this team out...????

Luke makes this team a ton better just by being on the court. His athleticism is unparalleled by any player in that program and if you don't agree watch them play Holmes this year. Sure Maile might not have the best shot selection, but I'd be willing to bet you could say that about a lot of the best players on their respective teams.

From reading a few other posts, I believe Eta Rho has actually said that he was by far the most athletic basketball player CCH had last year and it showed vs. Holmes. I don't know word for word what he said and I'm not going to go search, but I believe he and everyone else can agree with you that he adds a lot to the team talent wise. But he does hurt the team at key times with his poor shot selection and decision making on the court.

Originially Posted by Eta Rho in NKY: Holmes ranked #1

I don't know about "run all over everyone" but I do agree Holmes is still the hands down favorite. A lot of talent down there in Covington that really no team in nky will be able to match up with player for player.

Maile IMO was the most impressive kid I saw from CCH last year though against Holmes. He was the only player who was physical and athletic enough to rebound with Holmes both offensively and defensively.

On the flip side though, how will the addition of Maile affect the team chemistry? I think they are more TALENTED with Maile, but not sure they're necessarily a better TEAM with him. His shot selection at times hurts his team.

At this point, I'd still give BC the edge at #2 with CCH being a VERY Close #3 or 2b.

I think you need to re-read some of my other posts and not just the ONE in this thread.

Well first of all let me say that ETA is a very knowledgeable NKY basketball guy. I almost always agree with his views on discussions. In fact, I have many times found myself ready to respond to someone only to find that ETA had already said exactly what I was thinking. That being said, I see what your saying, but if you're saying they are just more talented with him but not necessarily a better team then I am confused??? I think he makes them better undoubtedly, whether he's a bad attitude, horrible teammate, or whatever else. I guess I don't understand your view... Is CCH better with him or not?

CCH is no doubt better with him. He brings much needed athleticism and a physical player that can bang with teams down low while also playing outside and being a playmaker. Again, I thought he was the most impressive player I saw against Holmes last year from CCH. He doesn't play scared and killed them at times on the boards which CCH will need this year considering they won't really have much athleticism to go with their height.

My point is, while he's a great player, there are personal issues that he needs to clear up so that he doesn't bring down the team. It's not my place to talk about specifics on here but I've heard that Luke isn't exactly the best teammate. With that said though, I'll leave that topic alone and say that I expect CCH to be there at the end of the year contending with Holmes for the region title with Maile in the lineup.

Trust me I know what you are talking about, and I think we are definitely on the same page with this topic. I was just confused initially by your post.:thumb:

How's Luke looking back out on the court? Has he missed a beat at all?

Just as good from what I've heard.

WOW...who didn't see this coming? Players are players and Luke is a BIG TIME player. Now what WOULD surprise me is to see him play FB for the playoffs! THAT would be something! (lol)

Well when he says to everybody that he is NOT going to play you have to believe him. LOL

I was told that Listerman always preached that ALL of his players must be at all of the preseason workouts. No Exceptions. This just shows how coaches sometimes don't stay true to their word when a star player is in the scenario.

Star players have always been treated differently and it will continue to be this way.

And if some of you only knew some of the inside stuff that goes on, and how some of the players act, your points would be proven even more.. :sssh:

I think one huge difference was Luke and Coach L had a very nice long talk late in August when Luke told Coach L that he wasn't going to be playing basketball this season and the reasons why. The chat ended on very good terms and they shook hands and Coach L told Luke that the door was always open for him no matter what and my understanding Coach L didn't just mean to play basketball, but if he just wanted to have someone to talk to.....

I for one am happy for him, and I hope he just has fun playing basketball this season! Starting next year, baseball becomes a full time job, and I hope it brings him a future full of happiness, joy and riches to last a lifetime for him and his family....

Agreed. The seniors did have a meeting to determine if he deserved to be on the team though... thet all know they need him for this season.
