Well, first, it was a project was born of my whining about conservative bias. I must make that statement in the interest of full disclosure.

 

Obviously, it's not 100% conclusive, but we are able to go back through this forum and find most participant's leanings by what they've posted. And obviously, neither of us had time to comb through and tick each poster who's posted over the years in a column.

 

The perception that there is a conservative slant is actually derived by the sheer number of threads/posts by conservative members, and the usual loquacios nature of those posts. Unfortunately, many of us who are branded "liberal" are not as verbose as those who are on the other side of the fence.

 

But, if you go back and look at responses, and the nature of those responses, you can get a fair representative sample and make a deduction from there.

 

I don't dispute your results, but I kind of disagree with the methodology.

Well, you'll have to forgive us. We both work full time jobs and do this little moderating thing, so we kinda took some shortcuts.

 

But, I also have to admit that on the day we did this, I didn't have the mental fortitude to go toe-to-toe with Hearsay in an argument, so I may not have been as tenacious as I should have been. :lol:

 

In my unscientific opinion, I do think the conservatives on the board have bright futures as "partisan pundits". They are masterful in their command of written communication. I can only aspire! :lol:

 

But, that said, I do feel that my posts, while not as "cerebral" as theirs do generally tend not to try and influence the reader by the liberal peppering of the content with slanted adjectives and misdirection.

 

And you, Habib, are absolutely fantastic as "breaking it down" without a lot of unnecessary rhetoric.:thumb:

You would have been in the "middle" not really categorized either way. When choosing teams, though, because of some of your thoughts on marijuana, etc, I fought Hearsay tooth and nail to include you on the liberal team, if we could only choose two teams. But, you defy logic, so because of your libertarian leanings, I think Hearsay would probably trump me.

BGP's ideological representation, as a reflection of America's collective ideological representation, leans toward the right. We have quite a few posters who represent the right end on a linear left/right spectrum, but few to none who represent the left end on the same spectrum. So, while there are posters who are liberal, there is no "equal and opposite" of the extremity seen on the right side of the spectrum, which skews the collective ideology in that direction. This allows those who are seen as moderates in American society to be called liberals in BGP's society, as the line of demarcation between left and right on BGP is skewed to the right. But, that's just my take.

Thanks, but it may not be a good idea to be bad mouthing Obama in public. When he puts his Communist ideas in place, you don't want to start off on the wrong foot.

 

Don't doubt that I, and a lot of others, have considered that possibility.

 

By the way, Geraldo Rivera, a noted radical from the 1960s in his own right, stated on Fox and Friends (unlike the other lesser news channels, Fox does allow opposing viewpoints) said that his fellow radicals from that time in our history see Obama as a culmination of their efforts.

 

I remember the unrest of and extremism of that era. Rivera's analysis merely supports my earlier observation that Obama is dangerous.
