Do you think Greed is a sin?

If you do, how could you possibly vote for McCain?

All I know is that I am not God and I can't pretend to know (or understand why I should know) what God does or does not consider a sin.

And I'm a capitalist, before we get six pages of hating on Habib.

Thanks Habib, that was excellent.:ylsuper:

You gotta love consistency.

Do you think Greed is a sin?

Yes, that is clear from the Bible.

I do not see McCain being greedy. On what basis do you say he is greedy?

Habib I have great respect for you and your opinions but the first line is a cop out.

With that belief, you are saying that you cannot make the call on what is a sin that is clearly a sin because the Bible says so.

With that belief, you are not willing to say rape is a sin. Murder is a sin. etc, etc.

I believe you are above such an answer.

Yes, lbbc, I'm nearly certain rape is a sin. But, is killing in self-defense? I don't know. Is greed? I don't know. Is playing guitar? I don't know. Is not sleeping enough? I don't know. Is what is a sin for you a sin for me? I don't know. We could quibble about this stuff all day. Splitting hairs about what is or what is not sin is not what I took my job to be from the NT. You may have a different interpretation, and I certainly respect it, but I can't fathom why I should consume my life with attempting to figure out what is or what isn't sin when I'm not perfect and my sins are forgiven.

Yes, greed is a sin. So are many other things. If you're going to try and vote for the candidate without sin, you're going to be looking for a very long time.

Do you think Greed is a sin?

Please clarify where you are going with this???? If anywhere......

Do you think Greed is a sin?

Do you think that infanticide is a sin? If so, then how could you possibly support Obama, who fought to allow hospitals to deny potentially life saving treatment to the survivors of botched abortions?

Capitalism is not based on greed. McCain is a capitalist and capitalism has relieved the suffering of more people who once lived in poverty than any other system conceived by man.

Now that is a Habib answer that I have grown to respect and look forward to.

While yes, our sins are forgiven, what did Jesus tell the woman that he saved from stoning. Go and sin no more. So, while we don't have to worry about our sins, we should still try and live a life (we are going to fail at it many times) in which we avoid sinning.

If we are called to "Go and sin no more" than obviously we need to WORK ON LEARNING what actions are sinful in nature.

The way I was taught growing up in church is that doing ANYTHING to excess is a sin becuase you are putting it before God. It could be watching sports, working 80 hours a week etc... Not saying I agree with all that, but that is what I take from his question.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :thumb:

He's a republican.

He promotes policies that support the accumulation of great wealth sometimes to the detriment of those without great wealth.
