I have a suggestion, since acemona is so upset with capitalism maybe he should find a place where socialism is the rule of thumb and locate there. Sweden perhaps? The country is beautiful, health care stinks, you can't get ahead, but heck you sure could get some nice pictures.

Because I do not worship at the holy grail of capitalism does not mean that I do not see benefits.

 

However there really is nothing Holy about it and it does need to be regulated to protect all of the citizens. I don't think Jesus was a capitalist and I do believe that he felt we should only do things the benefit others, sometimes to the detriment of ourselves.

 

Do I do this stuff - or course not - but I can undertstand it on a spiritual and intellectual level. heck I am probably one of the most capitalistic people on the board but I am working on making better economic decisions (or at least realizing that I need to do so)

I don't let my religion choose my vote for me, I choose on my own for what I believe is best for the country. I keep my religion in my heart on political issues. I have always been for seperation of church and state.

No. You postulate that the motive is 'greed.' 'Greed' by definition is doing something out of selfish obsession.

 

Some capitalism is borne by greed, but much capitalism, and I would opine that most capitalism, is borne out of a desire for future security. That, of course, takes many forms, but is not always greedy.

It is a system it is part of the powers and principalities that will all go away with the full coming of God's kingdom. If it is so wonderful why would God not keep it around.

We are so caught up in this framing story that we even work the scripture to support our - including me -love of capitalism.

Some abuse the system, no doubt.
