October 25, 200817 yr I have questioned 2 RB calls this year, The FG attempt against USC on the 3 yard line, And allowing Hartline the chance to lead this team, He couldn't lead my local 7th/8th grade team to a county title. :lol: The decision to keep him in the game reminds me of 7th/8th grade coaching. I'm starting to think Coach Brooks is dating Hartline's mom. He keeps him playing to keep her happy :lol:

October 25, 200817 yr The gist is this. In order to have a good offense you need to have a somewhat of a balance between the passing and rushing attack. The two really complement each other. This is the case with UK's offense. If you are able to establish a running game it will open up the pass. If you are able to establish a passing game and stretch the defense, it will open up the rushing attack. Going into the season, we had 4 great running backs and we all thought that we our rushing game would be one of the best in the SEC. Well it turns we are wrong. The cause of this lack of rushing game we have had is because of the Hartline troubles. If you have a QB who can barely pass the ball 5 yards down field, teams will just stack the box. This then explains our lack of a rushing game this whole season. If you have a QB though who is confidient enough to throw the ball down field and STRETCH the defense it will make the O so much better. You don't have to be the best QB to do this too. It just shows the Defense the threat of the long ball and passing attack and tells them they have to be wary of it and defend it. This will stretch the defense and cause them to not stack the box as they will put more players into the secondary. The bottom line is as long as we can't stretch the defense, our rushing attack will continue to struggle as well as the whole offense. We need a QB who is willing to throw the ball downfield and when are able to do that, we will see our offense come around. I'm just crossing my finges now hoping for the best.

I go a step further and say that is more than QB problem, it is an offense problem, WRs not running good routes, line not blocking well. I do not think it realistic to put the blame on one person.
