October 23, 200817 yr At 7-5 I will be taking a pass on Curlin... At 5-2 or maybe even 2-1, but slightly more than even money for a horse that we know does not like the synthetic is audacious considering the company he will be racing against on Saturday. I love Duke of Marmalade at 10-1, however I do not think he will be anywhere near that price by post. I am also surprised to see Casino Drive entered in the Classic. I thought the connections were going to run him in the 12 furlong race. I think the Euro horses will do very well and will love the surface at Santa Anita. If the imports do well on Friday, I will be filling my pick 6 with them for Saturday.

At first I thought "The Duke" would have a big shot in the classic, and I do think that overall the Euros will take to the pro-ride surface at Santa Anita. With that said though, Duke of Marmalade has had a rigorous spring and summer campaign in Europe and I do not think he will be at his best. From what I have read 10 furlongs would be a question for the other two Euros in the Classic. I do agree though that, 7-5 on Curlin, is a no-no for me as well. I would have to see 5-2 to place a win wager on him. Last year in the Classic I told my dad we would never see 4-1 on that animal again, wish we could get that this year.
October 23, 200817 yr I'm very excited. Once again, this is the best betting opportunity of the year for horse players. As far as winners, I'd be glad to hear what you guys think. I really like War Monger and Kip Deville (Mile) and I really like Indian Blessing (F&M Sprint. Other than that, I don't have any others I think are "locks."

I like Kip Deville, he always has his "A" game on big days. Kip Deville won this event last year and is coming in this year in much better form. Looks like he could be a nice price, since the Euro entry will likely take most of the actoin. I'll pass on War Monger, though. Tough to go against Indian Blessing but she will be too short of a price to play her, IMO. There will be a lot of pace in that race and Indian Blessing could get caught going too fast, too early. I would look for a deep closer to take the F&M Sprint. I do like Midnight Lute, however, he will be breaking from post 14. If he can get a good trip I like his chances. It is Breeders Cup day, though. There is no such thing as a "lock." Horses that are around 7-1, 8-1 this weekend were 3-5 or even money in their previous races. That is the joy of the Breeders Cup.

October 24, 200817 yr Author Zenyatta was amazing. She is stupid good. If she was running against the boys tomorrow, I would have my money on her. She just jogs around the track, then at the top of the stretch just decides to run. One of the most impressive horses I have seen in the 5 years I have followed the sport.

Just makes it look effortless doesn't she. Glad the connections are going to keep her in training too.
October 25, 200817 yr Author Just makes it look effortless doesn't she. Glad the connections are going to keep her in training too. I hope they continue to race her. And I hope they try to run her against the boys. She is big and strong enough to compete against the colts. Anyone have anything for tomorrow they like? I am looking over the DRF right now. It is tough to come up with who you like!

October 25, 200817 yr Author I will be glad I am at the track today watching the races. ESPN's coverage is awful. Joe Tessitore is HORRIBLE.
