Other Notes:

*Garrard County will be making their 10th trip to Wayne County. The Golden Lions hold a 6-3 record all-time in Monticello.

*Both Garrard and Wayne hold all-time winning records on the other team's field

*Garrard County has scored 263 points this season, an average of 37.6 points per game. If that pace continues it will be the second highest per game average in school history behind 38.3 in 1967.

*On the defensive side, Garrard has allowed 227 points, for an average of 32.4 points per game. Unfortunately if that continues, it will also be the second highest per game allowance in school history behind 38.2 two seasons ago.

*A win by Garrard County puts the Lions in third place in the district for the year. Wayne County would finish fourth. A win by Wayne likely makes a three-way tie with Somerset and Taylor County, with Garrard finishing fourth.

Current Class 3A, District 5 Standings

1. Somerset (3-1)

2. Taylor County (3-1)

3. Wayne County (3-1)

4. Garrard County (2-2)

5. Casey County (1-3)

6. Jackson County (0-4)

WACO by 2 TD's

The actual all-time record is Garrard owns a 9-8 series advantage as this Friday's game will be the 18th meeting between the 2 schools. The scores are correct, but they've only played 17 times, but other than last year's playoff game, NONE bigger than this for either team! Garrard County has lots of talent at the skill spots, but still no quality wins, while Wayne has a nice offense and is coming off their biggest non-district win possibly ever. All that means nothing come Friday night, but I do like the Cards in a close one!

Thanks! Looks like a monumental brain fart by me with the record. Sorry!:thumb:

Garrard sure does have the players. I thought they may have done better this year.

This could be a close one, but Wayne will pull it out.

Garrard County has a lot of talent should be a good one

Garrard County 28 Wayne County 14. Go!!!!! Lions

This will be a hard hitting, very intense football game. If Garrard can get the offense going early Wayne could be in trouble. I look for it to be a shoot out, with turnovers being the key factor. Garrard have five a week ago against Lincoln. Im picking the Lions in a close 38-35 win.

Three things:

1. This team has been hit with a few injuries over the last couple weeks. Leading rusher Jamarrious Merritt missed last week's game with Lincoln and I'm not sure if he's playing at Wayne. Kicker/receiver/defensive back Will DeMarcus was out last week. Starting cornerback R.J. Lasoya missed last week after not getting medical clearance for a concussion. Those injuries really altered the game plan for Lincoln County. Hopefully things will be back to normal this week.

2. The defense hasn't been able to consistently stop the better teams in the district. Somerset and Taylor County (along with Bell County and Lincoln County) could do just about anything they wanted against Garrard.

3. Garrard hasn't been much different from the past this season in that they always beat teams weaker than them, but struggle to beat teams that are "better" than them. Hopefully Coach Scenters and staff are developing a long-dormant winning attitude that they can carry into every game in the future.

I understand about the injuries, it is tough at places that have low numbers. That has hit us a little this year. This is the first game since our opener that we have had everybody ready.

Good luck to the Golden Lions.
