I'm going to go with the home team. On homecoming. If the Dawgs can't get their first win tomorrow, then they never will.

High life has a very good point. LC plays Letcher and Breathitt after this. I am a devoted LC fan but Letcher and Breathitt are not the teams you want to be trying to beat to get your first win. After that LC will probably play Bell in the playoffs and even I don't have dillusions about that game! So with all that said this is VERY much our best shot at a win this season. Unfortunately for LC Greenup has some talented players and has been improving throughout the season also. So Greenup wants this just as bad as LC does.

Lawrence County has had a week off,home field,& it appears that weather conditions should be in their favor tonight as Greenup County primarly throws the ball. After the way

they were defeated their last outing this team should come out & play inspired football. Both teams have played tough schedules and have good players.I give edge to Lawrence

County tonight & hope both squads have an injury free night & a lot of fun.

Weather does typically 'help' a running team, but the advantage to a slippery field to a spread/passing team is that the receiver and QB know the route and play and the defensive back does not. This usually causes the DB to make quicker and unexpected cuts, resulting in slips and falls....benefitting the offense. Boils down to execution and who makes plays, though.

:thumb: Exactly, I hear people all over say a passing team is at an extreme disadvantage in the rain/muddy conditions. Your comment was dead on. The recievers and qb knows what patterns they are running and when they are going to make their cuts. A defernse has to react.

I'm going with GCHS I think the boys can pull together and get a win here. It will also help if Grayson returns like they said he might. Besides the boys that were all ready out against Ashland we had no injuries, so it should be a better game. GOOD LUCK GCHS have a great game.:dancingpa

Rule 13

The whole idea of knowing the route makes sense at face value, but it ignores the fact that the ball is wet. It's not really about getting open in the rain it's about having a QB that can grip and throw the ball well in the rain and a reciever that has good enough hands to catch it in the rain.

 

I think the rain makes most coaches go back to that really old saying "three things can happen on a pass play and two of them are bad". The rain seems to emphasize those two bad things. Actually this would make for a good thread topic?
