Eminence 54 Bishop Brossart 0

Ouch.

This has to hurt the ego of Bishop Brossart football. I know they've struggled, but this had to be a circled game on their calendar as one they could win. Good luck to both teams on the end of the season.

And most of Eminence starters only played the first half!!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!

Brossart is a very young team that is learning a new system give them time and the coaches will turn things for the better. They got a real late start this year but there are some positive things for the Mustangs.

Was this an 8 man game or 11 man? WIll Eminence ever decide to committ to playing 11 football?

Eleven man game - Eminence is now 7-1 overall.

The biggest problem I see in Brossart's progress is keeping kids interested. It is one thing to lose every week, but another to continually get pounded as they have. I would think it would be hard to get kids to come out to play when it happens every week. They may be rethinking their decision to jump to varsity in 2 years rather than follow W-V's process of allowing the kids a chance to work their way into varsity ball. Good luck to them, but I think they are at a critical point in the program.

I agree 100% with you as do most in our camp.

Had we to do it over again, we would have probably stayed JV for another season or two until we could get a Junior High team/program in place and infuse our roster with some experienced players, or at very least played an independent schedule of varsity football (i.e. Walton-Verona).

With the re-alignment of districts taking place last year we were forced into making a hasty decision, which for better or worse we decided to give a go. Again hindsight being 20/20 if we had it to do over again, we probably (certainly) wouldn't have gone that route. However, you can't just jump in and out of district play on an annual basis. A commitment is a commitment. We are in the process of revaming the non-district part of our schedule to provide these guys some teams of their own caliber with which to compete. At the moment we are a very young junior varsity caliber football team with a few varsity level players.

We've learned that football isn't basketball, cross-country, fast-pitch softball, soccer, track, bowling or any of the other sports where we have enjoyed so much success. Football is hard. It takes lots of guys with varying skill levels and degrees of talent. We have learned that experience is invaluable and proper technique is essential. The good news is that freshmen become sophomores and sophomores become juniors etc., etc..

Our team is down, but not out. Talking to the players following the 54-0 drubbing by Eminence, they were still positive and upbeat. Merely competing with Ludlow the previous week (27-6 loss) was a godsend, showing that perhaps there is some potential here and that maybe the hard work and efforts of our coaching staff was starting to kick in.

I also agree that our football program is a critical stage, but we have enthusiastic coaches who believe in the day when Brossart will play on the grandest stages and fully realize that it is going to be a long hard journey to get there.

If that's the case, then they under estimated a talented Eminence team.

I certainly can't speak for the Brossart football program, but do know many involved; and can tell you they knew they were in for a battle with Eminence from the beginning of the season!! This was certainly not "a circled game on their calender" as you may suggest, and they have the utmost respect for what Eminence has been trying to build the last several years!! After all, this is no "new program", as they've been a very successful eight man team for years, and have played a limited independent/mixed with 8-man schedule since about 2002-03 I believe?

As Mustang has said above, this is a very young team with very few experienced football players; that is quite frankly playing a schedule that is over their heads at this point in their development. The last thing they need is someone (obviously not involved with the program) suggesting they would actually circle any game on their calendars??
