Rays have bounced back all year when facing adversity. They win Game 6, all is forgotten. They lose Game 6 and we go to a Game 7, things will get mighty interesting.

Maddon probably should had used Howell against Ortiz in the 7th. Also brought Wheeler in too early.

 

Wheeler still didn't have the batteries charged from when he went 3 1/3 the other night.

 

I really don't think any team but the Sox could have done that....

 

The pressure now lies squarely with the Rays. They don't want to go to a game 7 against Lester. It will really be how they respond to this loss. Will they forget it, or at the first sign of trouble in the back of thier minds will they be thinking "here we go again" and seeing Papi's ball flying into the Boston twilight...

So I'll throw out the question. Was this the best comeback in baseball ever?

I think Madden learned a valuable playoff lesson. Never take out your starter when he's cruising in a postseason game. Never.

I completely agree. You don't mess around in postseason baseball.

For most teams, UMustangFan, I would agree. This season however, each time it looks like the Rays should implode, Maddon has found a way to energize the troops.

If the Red Sox rally to win this series, they will have to outplay the Rays for two more games. I don't think Tampa is going to buckle mentally.

He was at 111 pitches when he took him out of the game. How many pitches do you feel Madden should have let him thrown?

This is great for the game of baseball! I don't think the pressure will get to the Rays in game 6 because they are back in Tampa and the atmosphere will energize them like no other. Besides, they want to be at home to celebrate, not in bean town. :sssh:

However, if it goes to a game 7, well that will be a different story!

There will be a lot of prisoners of the moment that will say it was. It will have a case as such if the Sox are able to come back and win the series.

 

For example, 15 years from now, nobody will remember Sean Woods. However, nobody will ever forget Christian Laettner.

IF the Redsox would win this series it's because of how they won game 5. The Redsox are going to have big MO on there side, but I don't see the Rays losing two games in a row.

The Red Sox bats were quiet for a bout 25 innings straight. Last night they started swinging, getting confidence. You think the Rays aren't going to have that in their mind? They may have had a darn good regular season, but most of these players are under 26 or so. This will be in their heads. Huge MO for Red Sox in Game 6
