I don't understand it. Ryle's varsity play calling is terrible, but the JV play calling is good. Ryle JV handed Conner a decisive 34 to 0 loss and scored on some really good pass and run plays. The varsity play calling does not adapt well to the changes in the game. It is like they have five plays that they repeat no matter what the situation.

 

The biggest problem with those five awful plays is you know exactly when they're going to call them. It must be so easy for the defensive coordinator on the opposing team to coach. For as much as they practice, it's really embarassing they can't work on something new. The talent is definitely there.

Actually, they don't. I can assure you the varsity does not have a WR option throwback pass to QB (which the JV ran Saturday) in their playbook.

 

But beyond that, even if they do run the same plays, that concept is not necessarily a bad or unusual one. Now I'm not speaking as to the quality of the plays, but you will frequently see JV teams run the same type of offense as the varsity so that the JV players are already familiar with a particular system/terminology when they hit the varsity level.

Mr. Englemon has had numerous touchdowns called back this season. 2 against Cooper. One of which was an outstanding punt return. One against Dixie on a reverse. A long touchdown pass against Sk. He also stepped in on defense against Dixie and made an interception on the first play he was in. He not only is a receiver, he can step in and play any position because he is that fast and ahtletic. Also Conner runs a spread offense so they alternate 6-7 wide receivers. At Campbell County, Bishop is their only target.

Well when you're right you're right. I just think there are more bad defenses vs. great receivers. The kid from Campbell in 06', kid from Cov. in 06', and Canafax were the best up here in a while.
