In all seriousness, this game could be very ugly, whether or not Elder "calls off the dogs" or not. The lack of a running clock will not help things, and let's remember that HHS played a lot of subs in the second half and still the margin was 61 points. If Elder is the best Cincy team this year, then I'd say that things will probably not go well for the Colonels.

 

Given that CCH has some things to work on this year and that this game is basically meaningless (with respect to making the playoffs, plus everyone has written this game off, it seems), I wonder how the CCH coaching staff will approach it. Will they "experiment" with some different things (especially on defense) and see how they work out (or don't work out), or do they approach this game just like any other? Clearly, it seems that CCH does need to make some adjustments before the postseason if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs.

I am not sure that calling off the dogs will help much because the Elder 2's and 3's are better than most teams's 1's.

 

I think that the clock will basically run most of the time because if the Panthers are able to run successfully (why wouldn't they be?) they will throw it very little which means minimal stoppages for incompletions.

 

This will also tend to keep the scoring down a little.

 

It would be great if the Colonels could sneak up on the evil :devil: Ohioans...but I am afraid the only way that happens is if the game starts after dark and the lights are turned out.

Maybe if Elder sits the enitre varsity team and Cov Cath brings back some graduates.

I honestly don't think this game will be as bad as the Highlands game for one reason. Elder won't want to risk any possible injuries to their starters and will be subbing in backups in the 2nd quarter and go two's for the second half. However, no matter how loyal of a fan you are you cannot think CovCath can compete in this one. I say 40 something to 7. And that 7 comes late in the game.

Im glad some Covington Catholic fans are realistic.

Why do you take back every good thing you have said about CCH this year? Just curious? Or if it was a joke, I'm missing it lol?

I have watched CCH very closely and discussed this with my son; the staff makes adjustments continuously; because they have had such a difficult year, they are constantly searching for the right combination of athletes and schemes.

 

To the casual fan, like myself, I don't see the nuances of positioning defensive line, linebackers, defensive backs, and formations, but I trust my son's knowledge and what he teaches me that he has learned from his coaches.

 

This team needs to get tougher, I do know that; when something goes wrong, they seem to put their head down and let more go wrong instead of knuckling down and making something happen themselves.

I mean theres a good chance Elder could pitch a shutout and put up 50.....with there JV.
