Heard Oops Perry tweaked his hammy. I don't think Benson will make any kind of a difference, but they had to bring someone in. Letting Rudi walk is looking like the typical Bengal personnel move. Beyond stupid!!

I am in complete agreement that the release of Rudi with no viable replacement was just plain stupid. As far as yds/att. Rudi's 4.0 is slightly better than Bensons, however Rudi was well below that the past 2 seasons. It all comes back to the fact that this org. has no clue when it comes to personnel.

Hasn't he only been in the NFL for just three years? I don't know how that makes him a career underachiever. I believe two of those years he wasn't even the starter because they had Thomas Jones. He has all the talent in the world, and players in past have shown to be much better once they have a change of scenary. Also in Chicago teams didn't have to worry about a passing game because they had Rex Grossman as the QB and no good receivers. Here in Cincinnati they are not going to put 8 in the box. So it definitely is a good risk to take, because he is very talented and could help this team out.

Rudi's last game alone (83 yds. rushing, 48 yds. receiving, 1 TD) is far better than anything the Bengals' backs have put together this year - and it's the only game he's received meaningful playing time. He's hardly the reason the Lions are 0-4. Releasing Rudi without any real backup plan for the rushing game - and Chris Perry was NOT a credible plan - was unequivocally stupid.

 

The topic is boring me. Benson has underperformed his whole career. He's been a problem child. He's not what this team needed. If you think he's what was needed to turn around the Bengals, good luck.

If Benson helps the Bengals win I am fairly positive the tone of Bengals fans will change almost to the point where you won't hear them.

I wasn't talking to you I was more making fun of the Bengals because we don't know what a win is. The Bengals have sold their soul and values so many times that nothing suprises me with them. Benson is a WASTE! He layed down on his team in the Super Bowl, they shipped T. Jones away so he wouldn't have competition and he still couldn't keep his job. That was before the 2 DUI's. Hey Travis Henry was pretty good in college we should see if we can make it an open competition. I don't know how anybody can take the Bengals seriously and I have always been a Bengals fan. They are the laughing stock of all sports right now IMO. They should be a bad NBA team.

Benson had a few run ins with the law. All of the charges were dismissed.

 

Benson was 1 of 5 men to rush for 1,000 yards in all 4 seasons in college. His collegiate career allowed him to become the #4 overall selection in 2005.

 

In Chicago, he never gained more than 647 yards in a season (I think that came through 11 games), but his average was 3.8 yards per carry. Pretty impressive, especially when you consider how dismal Chicago's offense was.

 

"It's humbling, you know," Benson said. "Those experiences bring you back to the ground if your feet aren't grounded. It's given me an opportunity to look in the mirror, reevaluate yourself. Initially, perception (is reality) but in due time it will slowly get back there."

 

That quote makes me believe that he has realized his mistakes / bad decisions, and just needs another opportunity to prove himself.

 

Add that to the fact that Dorsey is hurt, Watson is hurt, and now Perry has a tweaked hamstring, and I love the move.

What was the score of the Detroit game that game? I believe he did have a 30 yard run or something for a touchdown. His longest in the last 2 or 3 years I heard. While with the Bengals the last couple of years his longest run was like 20 something yards. His yards per carry have gone down every single year lately. He has now become injury prone as well. He didn't practice hardly any in training camp. So now tell my why again would they want to keep someone like that? The only mistake they might have made was not signing Benson right after they cut Rudi. Or atleast not signing someone right then. Releasing Rudi at the time was definitely the right decision. Now releasing Willie Anderson thats another story, because I didn't agree with that.
