Habib Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Ryle put up 26? They allowed 18? Good win for the Raiders. SK is strong this year.
Clyde Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 They allowed 18? Good win for the Raiders. SK is strong this year. Is SK strong this year? Weren't they picked to win NKY and now they've lost twice?
sportsfan22 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Great win for Ryle, Conner and SK better take a gut check!
Habib Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Is SK strong this year? Weren't they picked to win NKY and now they've lost twice? Yeah, but I think they are still a good and capable team. And I'll take a district win any day.
Clyde Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Yeah, but I think they are still a good and capable team. And I'll take a district win any day. To be clear, I'm not belittling the win for Ryle. Great win especially putting up 26 with an offense that has struggled. I'm just not sure if SK is the team people thought they were going to be when the season started.
cooperstown Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Yet another solid showing for Ryle's defense and this time the Ryle offense contributed in a big way. I would guess Ryle rushed for over 200 yards and also had two throwing TD's. Big time kudos to the offensive line, who really kicked it up a notch from previous weeks. Ryle was up 26-3 at one point early in the 4th when Simpson exploded for two long runs. Ryle did a nice job on him for all but these two plays. I believe I heard Simpson rushed for around 130 yards - 115 of which came on these two runs. Simpson is an extraordinarily fast young man and fun to watch. While playing safety, he ran down Ryle's RB Keifer Eubanks - an extremely fast young man in his own right - despite Eubanks having a 5-yard headstart on him. Ryle's defense is very solid. Not that they don't give up a big play every now and then - and certainly to be expected when you face someone of Simpson's caliber - but they will keep Ryle in just about any ballgame. When you see what Highlands just did tonight to CCH, it makes you appreciate all the more Ryle's effort holding them to 26 points earlier this year. About the only thing a little disappointing tonight was Ryle's kicking game. Missed a couple of extra points and a FG (made first attempt, but had to re-kick due to penalty), but that'll get fixed. Ryle's kicker has a strong leg and is as solid as most kickers in NKY.
RRfootballWC Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Ryle shutdown the SK running game tonight and brought their own running game to life. The Offense finally started controlling the game by running the ball successfully. Ryle threw passes where it was needed, but mainly controlled the game by running the ball. Much better play calling this week. The Defense was great as usual. There was only one play that SK (Simpson) was able to break a big run. Most of the night he was stopped for losses. Ryle is getting stronger every game. Congratulations Raiders!

NEERFAN Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Congrats to Ryle, they pretty much dominated the first 2.5 quarters, SK played well down the stretch, and were very close to having a chance to tie the game with about 2 minutes to play. Ryle's defensive front is small, but very fast, and they did a very good job containing Simpson for most of the game. The game didn't start well for SK, giving up the 98 yard KOff return for a Ryle TD. Then they came back with a nice drive that resulted in a fg from Nick Repka. SK's Qb was injured during that drive and didn't return until the 2nd quarter, during that time span they didn't move the ball well. Ryle looked to be the faster team and did a nice job running the rock. From the middle of the 3rd on, it looked the complete opposite, SK had some momentum and had multiple chances after stopping Ryle. Ryle up by 8 had the ball with about 5 minutes to go on their own 15 or so, the QB then threw a floater to a Ryle Rb, and it didn't fight the wind, resulting in a pass behind the line of scrimmage. SK recovered the ball and couldn't advance for a first down. At this point SK really is behind the 8 ball, but they still have games against BC and CC, both of which are very critical. Simpson's 2nd TD of the night was a thing of beauty, if you haven't seen the kid play do yourself a favor, any play can turn into a highlight.

I finally got to see this kid on an ICN 6 highlight yesterday and he is unbelievable the way he runs and his athleticism. Can you imagine if he were in the Highlands backfield with Josh Conner :scared::scared::scared: Congrats to the Raiders tonight on the big victory. How is the Hempel kid coming along? He really stood out to me in the Highlands loss as being a kid who would develop into a nice QB.

StraightShooter Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Hats off to Ryle. They played great D on Simpson except on 3 runs. He probably had 130 yards on 3 runs and no net yards on 15 other carries. Miles is an outstanding player. What fun to watch him accelerate. Ryle's O looked better tonight. PK doesn't look good. Too slow on getting to the football. SK must now beat Campbell to have a chance to grab a playoff spot. They did not look like a 6A favorite to me.
