I'm not against Harlan (City) in any way, but why would people still be bringing these kids up when they transferred 4-5 years ago? They transferred in 6th grade, and now they are freshman and sophomores.

 

I hate to say this, but it was the administrations own fault because they will not allow players to hold back and be eligible.

 

Nonetheless, I would like to see the Green Dragons do well this season, and from what I can tell, they can still get a home playoff game. Good luck to them.

 

For at least the fourth time, people have asked why the HHS program was down to the degree that it is, that is why I brought it up, it does matter when you loose 8-10 players in two grade levels, most certainly in class A schools. I agree that it is the fault of some in the administration, not all. I also stand by my reasoning that it matters not that they lived in the county district or in France they were students and athletes for the programs of HISD.

Small schools seem to be up and down. Harlan is in a down cycle but I would expect this to reverse it self in the near future. Coach Donahue is a good coach and a better man. The dragons will roar again in the near future.

Well I hope they can win atleast one game this year.... but I'll believe it when I see it. Prove me wrong guys.

As I've said before, those guys would have had little impact on Harlan this season. Harlan would still be 0-3. The addition of Hill and Cole, and probably some others, more than made up for the losses of some younger players. This was destined for many years to be a down season.

 

I don't mean that as a shot at Harlan. Cawood, Cumberland and Evarts have gone through similar seasons in recent years.

I do agree that they still might be 0-3 but they would not have been getting blown out of games, but I disagree that any of those mentioned would not have played a major role in this team being a great deal better. Harlan's biggest problem IMO is that they have no one with breakaway speed, for one C Taylor and R Ison would give you two threats to take it to the house. I would also point out that Dozier, Brewer, and Napier would give you a lot of value in the rotation on Defense. I think that most followers of the Dragons saw down the road that this team would have its hands full to have a shot at the district, so keep playing and practice hard things will get better, they always seem to work themselves out.

Harlan just needs to keep the boat in the water because better times are ahead. This was projected to be a down year and they still have a shot at a home playoff game that will be winnable. If their district stays the same, Harlan will be very competetive in the next couple years. Hazard is like any other small school, they are up and down. Harlan has a good future with their feeder team and their 6th grade team is doing well. In short, lets not pull the plug on the Dragons just yet. Good luck to the Dragons and Bears tonight!!
