Does anyone know when or if any of the postponed games from last weekend will be made up? I know some were district games that must be played. Will other games have to be dropped to fit the district games in? Can the "dropped" teams pick up games with other schools?

From today's Louisville Courier-Journal:

Jefferson County Public Schools' decision to cancel last week's high school football games in the wake of the Sept. 14 windstorm has several athletic directors scrambling to find new opponents.

Manual and Ballard, however, simply decided to play each other -- again.

The host Crimsons beat the Bruins 36-26 on Sept. 12, and they will meet again Oct. 17 at Ballard. The teams had the same open date.

"Our first game with Ballard was really competitive, and either team could have pulled it out at the end of the game," Manual athletic director David Zuberer said. "I think that's why both sides were interested."

Thirteen games involving Louisville-area teams were canceled. Only three were district games, which must be rescheduled under Kentucky High School Athletic Association rules.

Other area football games that have been rescheduled or added (All games will be played at 7:30 p.m.):

Friday: Jeffersontown will host Anderson County in a Class 5-A, District Three game.

Oct. 31: Male at Eastern. Both teams had open dates.

Oct. 31: Fairdale will host Valley in a Class 4-A, District Three game. Valley's scheduled game at J'town on Oct. 31 has been canceled.

Oct. 31: J'town will host Oldham County in a Class 5-A, District Three game. The game had been scheduled for this Friday but was moved for the J'town-Anderson County game. Oldham County will be off Friday.

Western athletic director Chris Corbin is still trying to negotiate a date for his school's Class 4-A, District Three game against Atherton.

Others looking to fill open dates are Butler (Nov. 7), Doss (Oct. 31), Fern Creek (Oct. 3), Moore (Oct. 31), North Bullitt (Oct. 31) and Pleasure Ridge Park (Nov. 7).

I'm wondering if that's a first where a team plays another team twice in one regular season. If not, I bet it hasn't happened in decades.

On another note that's sort of related, I heard (but haven't confirmed) that Butler's home game next week against Nelson County was moved to Thursday night.

Bellevue and Dayton used to open and close the regular season with each other back in the 1990s and perhaps early 2000s.

According to KSHAA website, they did this until the 2005 season...2004 being the last year for it.

This will be interesting. Does Ballard have the advantage because of revenge factor, or does Manual knowing that they can beat them?

Manual will take rematch.

Poor old St Xavier gets the short end of the stick this time around as Male moves on to take on Eagles. I estimate the loss of income at $30,000; $5,000. in concessions and $25,000.00 in gate receipts.

That is a shame for St X. Do you know if they are doing anything to get another opponent?

I'm not sure if there are any other opponents they can get. Many teams have already seen their bye week pass, leaving less of a chance to squeeze a game in. However...

Here's what I would like to see happen:

Covington Catholic and St. Xavier change their game from November 7 to October 17. October 17 is an open date for both schools. Covington Catholic would still have a ten game regular season.

With November 7 now open, have St. Xavier schedule Henry Clay for the season finale. Henry Clay has that week open and only has 9 games scheduled for the year. That would be a good 6A test for Henry Clay and would fill out a full schedule for both them and St. X.

Valley Traditional was the most affected by the power outage.

The Vikings only had nine games scheduled after their season opener was scrubbed for reasons unknown to me. Their game with Fairdale, since it was district, will hopefully be rescheduled.

However, the Vikings open date was the week before the wind storm. I don't know when they'll be able to make it up.

And to date, Valley has only ONE game under its belt...

Their game with PRP was cancelled when the PRP player died in practice that week.

There's no school in Jeff. Co. next Friday (10-3) - most JCPS home games will be on Thursday.

Butler and Southern played twice in the regular season in the late 50's. Not sure the reasoning behind it.

Western still hasn't played a home game this season - and won't until Oct. 10th.
