Eagles and Steelers

Featured Replies

I guess the Steeler fans on here are too exhausted after that game yesterday to post a thread on it.What a hard hitting game by both teams and they both come away with several injuries. The Eagles came away with the W though and that is what counts.

I was very happy that this was a 4:00 game because that is right when I got off work. Glad to see my Eagles pull out the big W...hopefully Westbrook will recover very quickly.

The Steelers stunk. D played well and special teams played well, but Philly's D blitzed the Steelers silly. O-line stunk, plain and simple. The new center is no better than the old center. The right tackle Colon is flat out awful. How can you rush 8 and not find a hot read. This one is on the O-line, WR and Off.Coordinator. Many times they had WR within 5 feet of one another and even running into one another. Frankly, if Baltimore doesn't send the house at Ben, I'd be surprised. Steelers could easily end up 2-2 on Monday night if they don't fix some major flaws in 6 days time. I look for the Baltimore score on Monday to be 9-6. Cointoss as to who wins.

BTW, the board wasn't available yesterday or there would have been a thread on it. So you can give the "absent Steeler fans" bit a rest.

I didn't say absent steeler fans,I said exhausted and you should be after that game.It may have crossed my mind though.:sssh:

Yea seriously, how am I suppose to start a thread when I can't get on. You think I'm afraid to admit we stunk? As spindoc said our O-line is awful and Baltimore is going to do the same as the Eagles and blitz us all day. So am I worried? Yes, but I have faith that Tomlin will get things straightned out this week, I'm not very old but in my 20 years I have realized the Steelers always come to play on monday night and hopefully next monday is no different. I would still much rather be 2-1 than 0-3, I just want to get out of our division.

I'll vent a bit more. I can't understand how you don't develop a right tackle. After the whole Max Starks debacle this spring, and now you have a less than average RT in Colon, they should be ashamed. We burn our 2 first draft picks and no OL selected. Faneca out the door and Marvel Smith in his last contract year at LT, Kemoeatu in his last as LG. This will no doubt come back to bite the Steelers like no other draft mistake in years, IMO. I understanding selecting Mendenhall, he was probably the best player available. But Sweed in the 2nd rd. was retarded when you have glaring needs in your only weakness on your football team and did nada to address that. Even if they select an OL next season, it's not often that a rookie OL can come into this league and do well in his first year. Some of that has to be on Big Ben as well for whining about wanting a "tall" receiver. He got one alright. A tall, inactive for the first 3 games because he can't play at this level, receiver. I wonder if one of the 7 times yesterday when he was looking up at the pigeons circling there in Philly "man I wish I'd have said that I wanted a top notch OL instead".

What about the decision to not kick the FG on 4th down when you had to have two scores to win the game?

I think that Phil Simms has a point. Kick the thing, you have to get down there twice anyway. Frankly, if not for Colon's holding penalty after he whiffed on third down late in the 3rd quarter, they backed up out of FG range and had to punt. Had they had that score it was a FG game and who knows how it may have played out after that. Basically the D gives up 13 points(pretty outstanding considering how long they were on the field) and the O lays an egg. None of it may have mattered anyway with the lack of protection. But I agree with your point.

What was the issue with Max Starks?

We were at camp together back in high school. It was cool to keep up with his progress.

On the Philly front, I hope the injury to Westbrook is not that bad. MRI is scheduled for today.

They placed the transition tag on him, paid him nearly $7mil for a one year tender. On top of that, had they ante'd up 500,000 more they could have franchised Alan Faneca. Just a Mike Brownesque personnel move. His salary ranked 2nd to Ben's.

The Bengals should trade you a high priced LT if that is what the Steelers need.He is Mikey boys pet though.

Other than our LT being on short time, he's not the problem. Our right tackle couldn't block my mom.

There should be a contest between Carson and Big Ben to see who gets injured the most this year.
