It was a good experience because they got to see team speed like few have in the state. Harlan is struggling exactly where they knew that they would struggle and that is in the secondary and offensive skill positions. They still have the capability of getting a home playoff game with wins over Pineville and Jenkins and, with a team with only 3 seniors, that would be huge. Keep working hard young Dragons and dont pay attention to criticism. Bobby Knight said critics were the type of people that hid behind a tree while the battle is taking place then they come out after the battle is over to bayonet the wounded!! Good job Hazard. Bring a state title back to the mountains!!:thumb:

Tough year for Harlan but they should get at least one win against Pineville and then have a great chance against Jenkins.

This is why I totally disagree with the new 6 class system, thoe if you consider that in that district 2nd place Harlan 2-8, 3rd place Jenkins 1-9, and 4th place Pineville 0-10. With the bottom three teams in the distrcit coming in with a combined record of 3-27 which is very possible. It takes the fun out of watching the first week of the playoffs. It gives no incentive to play well in the district besides the title because hey who cares where in the playoff's anyway.

I totally agree....at least in the old system you had at least 2 teams that could at least halfway compete.

I see your point, but I think it is a lot more fun to even the playing field and enable more teams to compete at a state level.

 

In my opinion, if Harlan continually improves this season, next year could be a really good year for the Dragons. They definitely do not need to drop their heads - Hazard is a great team!

I agree and have said so for years but it seems like every year some 3 or 4 seed makes a big run solidifying the 4 team system. I have said repeatedly that if they want to de-emphasize the regular reason, just cut the season down one game and make everyone playoff eligible because practically everyone is eligible now!:thumb:

It is not the 6 class system it is that they take 4 teams in the playoffs. They should take the top 2 like it used to be. It was like that when I played and it worked then. I think that now it is the money.

It used to only be the winner of the district that went to the playoffs, talk about every game counting. The running back at Hazard #24 might be the fastest player I have ever seen in the mountains.

Agreed. I have no solution, but 1 or 2 wins should not get a team in the playoffs. I think it should somehow relate to the overall record which would create scheduling conflicts. Each district should have only 1 representative.

I don't agree with that I think 2 is better. Only one is not the way to go because some districts are better than others and this gives the 2nd place team a chance to be able to play the first seed in their district again. There has been alot of times that the runner-up the district beat the winner the second time around. I think that this needs to be a thread and this one needs to be closed.
