Experience is not worth much if a candidate has a history of being wrong. Biden opposed the Gulf War, supported the Iraq War but claimed he was misled, opposed Reagan's strategic defense system, opposed the troop surge, and is in the hip pocket of the credit card industry. Aside from that, and the fact that he has trouble telling the truth when he is under stress, he is a fine candidate. :lol:

It might have lessened the violence to a certain extent, but I don't know that the "surge" has done anything to ensure the Iraqi government's stability.

 

Your assessment of Biden is exactly what I would expect from the parrots of the right.

Habib, you know as well as I that the Intel we had gave us reason to go into Iraq. Why rehash this? We went in, found out later the Intel was bad. What were we supposed to do, just pull out at that point?

 

You have to take a hard line after something like that. They figured us for a paper lion, you can't look weak in the world view when you take such a vicious hit. It's not a time for making nice and hoping all will all join in with us. You let the world know you mean business, it's the only thing extremists understand, they prey on the weak.

I knew Guantanamo Bay is what you were driving at. I have to ask, ARE YOU SERIOUS? Cry me a river for these scum of the earth that are fighting our troops, without a uniform I might add. They should be shot on sight IMO. I give zero sympathy to any of them, poor things getting water-boarded while all they did is kill some of our troops, helped in roadside bombings, cut off innocent peoples heads, shot and killed innocent civilians and on and on and on...

 

Israel won't allow it and I couldn't care less what any Secretary of State thinks about Iran. Until that regime is overthrown diplomacy will not work.

 

All it reaffirms is that these people have hated this country for long, long since before you or I was born. There is nothing that will get through to them simply because religiously we are too different and they want us dead. You can't reason with religious extremists, and sadly that's who's in charge over there.

 

Did anyone really think anything different would happen? I mean, seriously, Russia has always wanted to regain it's prominace as a world power. That hardly has anything to do with the Bush Administration.

 

I don't necessarily disagree with everything you said. My contention was that the Bush foreign policy has been divisive and hasn't resulted in much success. Independent of that context, I would probably agree with you on a few points.

 

I thank you for your views, I disagree with you, but you are one of the best when it comes to P&R and I always admire the way you handle yourself in our "debates". I seriously think you should consider public service, maybe a guy like you could actually bring us some real change. :thumb:
