What about Harlan County WYMT show some respect!!! They are more than one team across the the Mountain now besides Bell County. I'm not saying they should be in the top 5 but they are good enough to be in the top 10. LCC just caught us on a good week the first week now that we have learned to play together we might not be stopped the rest of the year IF we can stay healthy and out of trouble!!!

I look at this and I feel a little better about Lawrence County's record. They've played Sheldon Clark and Belfry and they will play Prestonsburg and Letcher County? That's 4 of the Mountain top 10. Five of the top ten if they run into Bell in the playoffs which is likely. Throw in Russell and Breathitt as the other two non-district games remaining and it looks like this team will be battle tested if nothing else.

 

Frankly, the scheduling has been, IMO, too aggressive for the Bulldogs. It asks far too much of a young team and new coaching staff. Lawrence would have been better off playing only 2-4 of those teams you listed.

 

A tough schedule is a good prep for the playoffs. However, taking it too far can leave a team disheartened, a coaching staff under pressure, and fans frustrated.

I seriously doubt that, especially given the fact you couldn't beat Perry Central 1 out of 1 times.

 

Come to our place and give it a try and see how it works out. If you think you could beat HC 9 of 10 playing 5 at each place, well I'll leave it at that...

We all know that an 8 point loss to Belfry should show the fans that we are close to turning it around, but to most people a loss still looks the same on paper. I really hope these players and coaches realize that the VAST majority of the fans are still behind them and really appreciate the effort they are giving!

This would be a great REAL game to see between these two. I don't think anyone can say one or the other is hands down better without them playing in a real game situation.

LCC scooped up a 80 yard fumble and that made the difference.

Two perfect plays that burnt your DB's went right through the fingers of our WR's for the game winner, twice. I don't call that good, i call that LUCKY.

 

Our QB was hurt.

Didn't have our starting TB.

Didn't have our starting DE, who may be the best on the team.

 

The score could've been easily in Harlan County's favor by multiple points, much less winning 9 out of 10 times.

Previous staff and an athletic director that never played a sport in his life. It's really tough rebuilding with 1 Sr starter on offense and 2 on defense when you have to play top five teams 4 out of 5 weeks and still have Breathitt+Letcher Co Central left late. The kids are realizing that they could be sitting 4-0 playing nobody like a lot of teams have. They realize that they can play with anybody in the state when every kid does his job until the whistle blows+ we protect the ball. While a lot of fans might be dejected and the moral is tough after getting beat by top teams, I can promise you the staff hasn't lost sight of our overall goals + we aren't going to let the kids lay down either. To many guys leading the charge that have won all their life and are going to impose their will to get this thing turned around one way or another. Changing attitudes + work ethic doesn't happen overnight but I can assure you that it's changing. That's why we only have 5 Sr's on the roster. The schedule made out is ridiculous but it is what it is. We are chosing to look at it as a positive that we will be battle tested come District and playoff time. Coach Salmons has already taken the future scheduling into his own hands and it is much more what it should be for a program that is moving forward. I appreciate your support Jude! You've been a great fan. Trust me no body hates losing at LC worse than me and I refuse to give in. I'm proud of our kids for their effort but it's time for us to take that next step and kick the door down. We've been close but at some point we have to grow up and do the little things right every play!

Yeah, I'm serious. If you want to do it like this we can, LCC returned a fumble 80 yards for a TD, HC. returned an INT 15 yards for a TD, plus, the opening kickoff was fumbled by HC. and LCC recovered it.... CLEAR AS DAYLIGHT, but somehow HC. retained possesion of the ball????? BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. LCC broke a run and the running back after, he had crossed the goal line ( I think that's a TD by the way, don't hold me to that because I'm not real sure) and what do you know, TOUCHBACK. So I'm thinking LCC could have won by MULTIPLE POINTS. You need to look at it both ways.

 

LCC made enough plays even though they didn't get any breaks either, Harlan Co. just could'nt make enough. If LCC lined up in the I more than 1 time, the game would be over as soon as it started.

 

Oh, and LCC had 2 starters out on defense, (one of those being their best defensive player). Didn't hear anyone on our side complaining about that.

 

And trust me, I'm not a die-hard LCC fan..... I just call it like I see it.

PCC beat LCC straight up, no one was on here saying things like....... Nahh they caught us on an off week, let us play them again at our place. The only thing that matters is who won and who lost. And you bring up matters that are over 3 weeks old.

Perry Central only won by 1 point, I still believe LCC is worthy of a top 10 ranking.

LCC beat Harlan County and won by 50+ against Greenup County.

I was mainly shocked to see Breathitt County drop out.

 

 

Once the season starts, I think that polls should be based maybe 60% on what a team has done that week and the strength of the opponent, and 30% on what they have done in the past during the current season, and 10% on intangibles.
