A liitle nervous

Featured Replies

On Wednesday I had a pretty bad scare. While at work I started to have some slight chest pains, but thought it was just muscles or something from lifting. After an hour or so I started having some strange feelings in my left arm. I mention to a co-worker and he said thats nothing to play around with. I then ate some lunch and felt a little better, until about an hour later when I began to feel a little dizzy and dry mouth. At that point my boss called the parametics and off to the hospital I went. They did a ekg, some blood work, etc...The Dr. came in and said the test looked good, and that I may have an inner ear infection. He said I should call my family Dr. and set up a visit. I went and seen my family Dr. yesterday and he said all the blood worked looked good, but wanted me to go have a stress test. I have a history of high cholesterol so he figured it would be a good idea. Well, I went this morning and had the test, the nurse told me I could wait and find out the results, or get them from my Dr., probably on Wednesday. I chose to wait. After about twenty minutes the nurse came out and told me that the Dr. did indeed see something a little funky, and would contact my Dr. That was it. Needless to say, I'm a little nervous.

Thanks TD. That sounds very encouraging. Did they say what may have caused your exam to be abnormal?

Ok, I'm sure you have worked on that, and it has improved.

Thanks again

When do you expect to hear anything? Like TD said, it is a good thing you went to the doctor. It is so important to always listen to our bodies when they are trying to tell us something!

Yes it is, and I sure will. They said my Dr. wouldn't receive the results until Wednesday. I went a head and called his office and talked to one of the nurse's. She took down all the info and said she would have him call me.

Well, I would think it is not too big of a deal if you can wait until next Wednesday! Geez--way to ruin a guy's weekend.

Honestly, I have good weeks and bad weeks. One of my bad habits is when I get to stressed...I do not eat well or near enough. Some people turn to food for stress relief. I am the total opposite. I have recognized it as one my issues and trying my best to improve. However, I can do much better.

Please keep us posted as to what they say.

I do the same thing, TD. People always say it is a good problem to have, but I don't know about that. When I am stressed or upset, food is the last thing on my mind.

That's what I was thinkin.:irked:

I seriously doubt its major. If you were at risk of dropping over you'd still be at the hospital.

I don't know your age, but you very likely could have some sort of arythmia?sp?.

Very common, and most times it corrects itself or they have medicine. At worst they may have to shock it.

I hope it's nothing serious and with some medication, you'll be okay.

I used to be a cardiac nurse. Believe me, if it was bad you would not have been allowed to leave the office. I had patients who went straight from the treadmill to open heart surgery.

He may recommend an angiogram (x-ray of your coronary arteries). It is done as an out patient basis. Considering your history of high cholesterol, it probably is a good thing.

Worst case scenario is that they may catch a problem in its early stage...find some blockage that can be treated before things get worse.

We are lucky to live in a time when health screenings can pick up problems in their early stages. These screenings do give us all a lot of "scares" though.

I think it is inappropriate for the nurse to tell you the news. The doctor who read the test should have spoken to you directly. It probably would have saved you a lot of anxiety.

Good luck to you and keep us informed.
