I am interested to know how they are deep at the forward position.

 

I love their guards with Gabbard and Popp but thought they were weak at the forward position last year. They played four guards at times.

 

Krohman and Brown have graduated, Flannery left, heard that the younger Brown will not be playing basketball. Who does that leave at the forward position?

 

Did not know Brown would not play. That hurts their depth. I think you could consider McFarland a forward. They are definitely deeper at the guard position. I guess my point is that the least depth they have is their inside guys.

How in the world has this team not made a run in the region? You have four potential college players and this team hasn't won a district tourney game the last two years. Wow!!

 

Don't forget Cotton. He adds more depth at the forward and could be the fifth starter.

 

I'd like to see this group turned loose a little by Boone's coach.

I ran into Travis the other day and he looks pretty good. Claims that he has been in the weight room on the regular basis. I hope that to be true. He looks like he has grown a little. Not sure how tall he is now.

 

Travis has a great skill set but strength has been his biggest obstacle. If he can get stronger it will help him develop as a player.

 

IMO, Boone needs him more at the 3 than the 2. It doesn't make sense to keep Popp or Gabbard out of the lineup. They can both play the 1 or 2, and when one of them needs a break, gets hurt, or gets in foul trouble, Schultze can fill in at the point solidly enough. Not sure Travis' ball handling is good enough yet to help break presses as a 2 guard. Cotton can be a forward and can get off the deck and shot block well, but he also needs to increase his strength, which is hard to do when baseball is your first sport.

I think they will be more versatile this year and rely less on the 3-point shot when Krohman was there. All 4 of those players are capable of putting up double figures on any given night. Rebounding will be key, which is why Trevan could be the fifth, especially if Earls hangs outside more often. I hear these boys have been hitting the weights pretty hard in the off season.

Shame he still isn't. I know coach Highfield would love having him. And he would've probably started on the football field as well this year.

For Holmes 6'5/6'6 G Kevon Arnold will be a big contributor off the bench this year as a soph. He had a great summer playing at the 17U level as a 15 yr old and averaged double figures in scoring. Last year as a freshman he saw some major minutes considering who Holmes had and would have added more depth down the stretch but did something to his foot and was in a boot for the district, region, and state tournament.

 

Also, 5'9 G Jaydale Herdon will see some varsity action for Holmes as well. He will remind a lot of people of Braeon Avery from last year's team. Very quick with the ball and probably the only 5'9 PG in nky that I know of who's dunking off alley oop passes. The kid has unreal hops for his size.

 

Should be fun to watch these two for the next few years to come.

I don't believe Cory will start but he will be a 6th or 7th. Boone needs size and rebounding. That was one of their problems last year. They lack a lot of size inside, and Cotton or T. Brown are more likely to be able to contribute in this area. Cory is a great kid and plays hard, and he could be in the guard rotation behind Gabbard and Popp.

That would be Zion Herndon...younger brother of Jaydale. He will NOT be apart of the team this year. Henley wouldn't allow him to play because of troubles in school. The Johnson's attended Taft...not Withrow. And the 6'6 freshman (don't know his name) I'm referring to whose cousin is Yancy Gates has been in the Covington school system since elementary school so it's not like he came over here from Ohio as a transfer or anything.
