Is Matt Trammel the son of Steve or Scott? I remember Scott was an unbelievable point guard in his high school years at Ludlow.

 

He is the son of Scott. I never had the chance to see Scott play, but Matt is also an extremely good point guard.

The 9th Region history books are filled with kids that were 9th grade stars that ended up being average varsity players. We simply don't know who is going to progress, who is going to work on their weaknesses, who is going to stop growing, etc.

 

Will Jake Thelen be a good varsity player over the next 3 years? We don't know. I'll bet he will be but that's just a somewhat educated guess. I would caution anyone who makes any judgements bases off of last year to realize that he was probably never in complete game shape as his foot injury got him off to a bad start. I also know he's much leaner (and taller) this year. Add that to his ability to bang and battle along with some solid ball skills and I'll take my chances with him. I'd caution him to not think he's an outside shooter and keep him 12 feet and in.

I think you are right for the most part. The only part of this statement I disagree with is that he has an ability to bang and battle. Jake is a little soft, which is why he needs improvement on his defensive game.

Don't forget about the older brother of Matt, but living in Matt's shadow, Tyler Trammel from Ludlow.

He will walk on at UK in the fall, will get playing time and end up starting halfway through the season.

If he plays like his dad he'll produce for sure. His dad had a great outside jumper before 3's were the thing and was able to "see" the whole court. I'm looking forward to watching this young man play!

Trevan Brown and Jake Geisler will both be varsity contributors this year.

 

Trevan will benefit from playing with Andy Earls who is one of the better established big men in the ninth. Andy real showed that he is able to step out on the floor this summer and shoot the 3. Trevan will give them a rebounding machine and allow Andy to step to the perimeter and play some facing the basket.

 

Trevan's challenge is going to be for him to expand on his game. He is a bit undersized to play the post and doesn't have the ball skills or ability to shoot the jumpshot to step out on the floor. If Trevan is able to add a mid range game in the next couple of seasons he will be a nice player.

 

Trevan is a a human vacum cleaner on the backboard. He takes up a lot of space and is relentless. He is a very high energy player and is very much a team player.

 

Jake will probably be a varsity starter and will log a lot of minutes at NCC. He is another big man that has some pretty nice perimeter skills. He shoots the 3 real well and can face the basket and score.

 

As Jake becomes stronger and is able to shed the last of the baby fat he will blossom into one of the better players in the ninth in the next couple of years.

I'd expect Trevan to log most of his time on the JV team with a few minutes here and there at the varsity level. Too much depth ahead of him plus you already have a space eater in there.

I agree Trevan will be a backup to Earls in Varsity for his rebounding. Boone is deep at the guard and forward positions but not at the post.

They have another talented soph in Travis Montgomery but he is more of a 2 guard. Don't know if he is physically strong enough to move to the 3.

I ran into Travis the other day and he looks pretty good. Claims that he has been in the weight room on the regular basis. I hope that to be true. He looks like he has grown a little. Not sure how tall he is now.

 

Travis has a great skill set but strength has been his biggest obstacle. If he can get stronger it will help him develop as a player.
