September 7, 200818 yr OH..........IO it's a win and the Buckeyes will take it. OSU has to do a better job in the Red zone if they are to have a chance to win next week. Any without Beanie and probably looking ahead a bit the found themselves having to battle through some adversity which will only make them better as the season goes along. USC will help the Buckeyes get better next week no matter what the outcome will be. GO BUCKS!!!
September 7, 200818 yr Not overrated, just not much of an offense without Wells. This is a great football team, they just couldn't move the ball, a bit. The second half was much better. It will take a complete game like that and more to beat the Trojans. It was a win, not a great win and not the way you want to win against a team like Ohio. Not overrated, really?? Come on.

Take any top notch team, and remove their number one threat on offense (like Tebow from Florida, or Moreno from Georgia) and the team is going to "suffer". Granted, the really good teams are still going to win despite the loss. But, given the short preparation for dealing with the loss of Wells, I think it's somewhat understandable. He's the type of player that can make the others around him better. However, all of that being said, I think there were two things at work here. One being the fact that USC is waiting for them next week. And the second is that the Bobcats are not being given as much credit as they deserved. They played their butts off and could have made their entire year with a win on Saturday.

(bold quote) Not disagreeing with you just bring up other facts about the game that are un answered..... What excuse can be made for the Oline getting handled by a Dline 1/2 the size (should of been able to run all over Ohio's front 4 and couldnt-even getting stuffed on a 4th and 1) or the supposed #1-#2 defense in the land getting gashed for 9 of 15 3rd downs by an Ohio offense with a 2nd string QB who by the way was only playing his 2nd game in D1.... Neither one of those had anything to do with Wells being out. Speilman said best during the game I was told "Ohio is ready to play and the buckeyes arent." Simple as that... Yes, I am a bit bias but...I dont care what anyone says turnovers and a couple special teams plays cost the Bobcats this game. SPT are 1/3 of the game, gotta win that battle. Oh well all that being said it was a fun game and fun experience, Bobcats will get another shot in 2010! :thumb:

Why do you say they aren't great without Wells? They are stacked at every position with top ranked recruits. Almost as much as USC every year. They shouldn't see a huge dip in quality when they move from one player to the next. Unless they are overrated.
September 9, 200818 yr Ohio State has a history of playing bad against lesser teams. They weren't pumped up to play the Bobcats, and most likely were looking past them to USC. Now that this game is past them, I hope they get there act together and are ready for what the Trojans will bring. This game will be won on the line of scrimmage and on special teams. The Buckeyes will have step up several notches to make it past USC. Hard task, but not impossible.
