September 4, 200818 yr Whew--I was looking around for city busses to jump under. Thank God Hoptown doesn't have public transportation.
September 4, 200818 yr What's bad is, Hardin's arm and Zambrano's shoulder has nothing to do with Soriano loafing in the field and Derrek Lee hitting in double plays every time up. I also read somewhere that the Cubs are guaranteed winning the division because of Jason Marquis. In his previous eight seasons, he has always played on a division winner (Atl., SL, Chi.). So at least we have that going for us....
September 5, 200818 yr Author Brewers lose to the Padres in the first of a 4 game series, WOW! I don't think either team wants the division right now. Cubs now a full 5 game lead and that magic # down to 18.
September 6, 200818 yr Author As bad as things have been during the losing streak, this is rock bottom. It can't get any worse than this. Down 9-0 to a Triple A team and Lilly can't even go 2 innings.
September 6, 200818 yr Author Seriously, kill me now When Lilly imploded, I just started laughing, that's all you can do now. No words can describe how ridiculous this is.
September 6, 200818 yr Votto has been on fire of late for the Reds. He's up to .297 with 18 bombs and 70 RBI. If it weren't for Soto, Votto would probably win the NL Rookie of the Year. Can anyone believe that Arroyo is up to 14 wins now. What a turnaround he has had since changing the grip on his two seam fastball. He's 4-2 with a 2.61 ERA in his last 6 starts.
September 6, 200818 yr Author Brewers led 2-1 going into the 8th, Sabathia was pulled after 7. GAGne comes in and gives up the tying run. Padres had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in both the 8th and 9th, couldn't push across the lead run. Brewers got a leadoff walk and had a runner at 2nd with one out in the 9th and couldn't get him in. While I full expect the Brewers to win this game, how funny would it be if they blew ANOTHER chance to gain ground on the Cubs. Even with a Milwaukee win the Cubs will lead the Central by 4. With Philadelphia winning, the Brewers now have to be careful they aren't caught by the Phils. This is going to be a FUN month I tell ya.
September 6, 200818 yr Author WOW! Padres have runners 1st and 2nd, nobody out in the top of the 10th, don't score. Brewers come back and have runners 1st and 2nd, nobody out in the bottom of the 10th and don't score. No one wants to win this game. ***Padres have runners at 1st and 3rd in the top of the 11th, don't score. Brewers FINALLY score in the bottom of the 11th and win. Cubs lead down to 4. September 7, 200818 yr Author Sheets with the complete game shutout, Brewers win 1-0. Cubs FINALLY breaking out tonight, as nice as this is to watch, they need to get the win tomorrow and start building back some momentum. It's especially enjoyable since the comments made by El Grande and the crappy left hander about the Cubs fans being fair weathered and leaving early last night.
September 7, 200818 yr Why is there so many of you people? I HATE seeing Great American Ballpark filled with you guys.
September 7, 200818 yr Author Why is there so many of you people? I HATE seeing Great American Ballpark filled with you guys. Short drive from Chicago, unless you ride with Lou, AND much like Boston fans, there are Cubs fans everywhere.
September 7, 200818 yr Why is there so many of you people? I HATE seeing Great American Ballpark filled with you guys. It's because Cubs fans don't come to the ballpark dressed as empty seats....
