Congrats to Coach Fowler on his first win...great job coach...although I would have said that anyway seeing how I am his uncle...

Good luck to both teams the rest of the season...and hopefully the Mustangs can get their first win in the near future.

Congrats to Coach Fowler from Shelby County!

I am happy for Fowler. He is a great person and coach.

Good job to the Brossart players as well they played hard and never quit fighting. The look much better this year then last. Things will get better keep your heads up.

Owen County wins the toss but elects to take possession to start the second half.

Brossart dominates the first quarter, reeling off four consecutive first downs while driving the ball to the goal line before coming up empty. Owen Co QB Jordan Cox intercepted by Connor Boesch on Rebels first play from scrimmage and this time the Mustangs punch it in to go up 6-0 after one.

Owen County returns the favor in the second period, scoring a pair of TDs and one PAT to take a 13-6 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Brossart dodges a bullet early in the third quarter as an Owen County TD is called back on a blocking violation. Another Connor Boesch pick thwarts the Rebel scoring threat.

Owen County closes out the scoring with a FG and a Safety, giving them and Coach Fowler an 18-6 opening night win.

Brossart's running game is much improved from last year, showing multiple sets and a lot of versatility. Didn't have a lot of success through the air, as the young QB didn't have much time before being flushed from the pocket. Unofficially, Brossart recorded 11 first downs for the game.

Mustang defense had their moments, but again were victimized by big plays which have haunted them in the past.

Overall, passing marks for Coach Matt Reinhart's Mustangs. With the bye week ahead, he will have two weeks now to prepare for first-year varsity Walton-Verona on Saturday, September 13th

Good job Owen Co. !

From the game description, it sounds like after the first 2 series, the Rebels would have had reason to say, "here we go again". Sounds like this version of Rebels just tightened up their chinstraps and went back to work.

Congratulations on a hard fought win and good luck the rest of the season.
