Then why play it? There are a LOT of coaches that prepare very well for scrimmages without tipping their hand. You do not want to go out and suck up the field. There are many things you want to try and fine tune, players you want to try and move around and I still think most teams want to win, count or not.

 

I think you answered your own question. As you said, you try out new players, do a little fine tuning, get those early season jitters out of the way before the first game. Also as you said, no one want to look bad and I would expect every player to go all out. I also expect a lot of JV players to pick up experience, and I expect coaches to limit their play calling to basic sets and formations.

 

If you want to make this a full blown game thats fine with me. I just don't judge teams by pre-season scrimmages. Too many variables that you just don't see in regular season games.

True. Both sides hold back, but it is a game once the whistle blows and the ball is kicked.

From what we've seen around Bell County this year.....the new Pineville coach has turned things around in the last couple of years. They will always fight numbers and the draw of Bell County for kids....but they are working hard over there. I heard they put in an entire new weight room this off-season.

I still don't think that they are in the same leauge as LC. You can have all of the equipment in the world but it still don't make you a football team. No offense to them I wish them the best but I believe the times have passes Pineville by.

Lynn Camp will control this scrimmage IMHO.

That would kind of like a mustang with a 4 cylinder. Looks like a hot rod but does it perform. The players are the engine and P'ville engine is still lacking.

Pineville Should win this one,it does not seem to me that Lynn Camp is very focused on playing the game,instead it seems they have other objectives on their mind judging by how a couple of their scrimages have went this pre-season.

I know the objectives you are discussing, and I think unless you were there, it's not something to be judged. Takes two to tango, as it may be, and the Cats have had some help. They are plenty focused and ready. Certain situations have been handled.

Last year Pineville's JV which are all now starters....just about....took Lynn Camp "to the woodshed" on their own field! Look for a really good scrimmage!

Pineville is much improved and coach Elam has done a great job, so I would not under estimate Pineville. Also Lynn Camp had no offense last year when Roskoff went out and they have the same players back. I talked to one of the coaches at LC and they will be missing at least 3 starters, maybe more, 1 being their QB so I wouldn't be surprised if Pineville takes this one fairly easy.
