Lynn Camp has the advantage of not having a large county school that the kids can get instant recognition by playing for right next door. Elam will do OK, but do not look for the glory days of PHS to return. Even in small ball it is hard.

I love hearing the history of programs that I, admittedly, have a limited amount of knowledge of. Thanks for providing that.

Unless you're referring to Bell and Pineville being in the same city. Even so, you're close enough to Corbin and I know you have a history of losing a few that direction.

No. NO! No slight meant. No accusations of recruiting by ANYONE! I apologize. You currently have one of our players from last year on your roster and we have one of yours. No animosity. Once again, I am sorry if I came off as something I totally was not refering to. As far as the comment about "next door", I do mean the schools are that very close. I am not saying KC is not good. They are light years from where they were. They are also 20 to 30 minutes away from LC, while BC is only about 5 to 15 minutes away from the PHS kids.

 

Many PHS students are so close to Bell that they may have a choice to make and if they have talent, I think they will go with the better (in their perception) program. If anything, we have had more Corbin kids transfer to us in the last 15 years than vice versa. I didn't have an agenda against anyone. Just pointing out that if a kid is in an area where he can be on a team or be on a team that could be a contender, he's going to the proven program.

 

The Corbin example is a good one. When we were everyone's doormat, the kids with talent went to Corbin. You got recognition there, but you could not as a Camper because we were so bad. Hope this clarifies what I said and what I meant. Once again, no slight meant to Corbin, KC or BCHS. Just pointing out what could be going on with PHS being so close to BCHS, and how PHS could suffer because of it.

In the last 25 years Lynn Camp has not lost 1 "PLAYER" to the MIGHTY HIGHNESS hound dogs.

I like the natural migration thing. We lost our share to other schools over the years, but as of late have been as competitive as anyone else and the kids could stay put on a good team and get playing time. I don't think CHS gets near as many transfers in as they had 20 years ago.

 

We did lose the Harris(?) kid to CHS, a few years ago, 33. The same year that Jackson was ruled inelligible to play for us after leaving CHS and before his dad took the Pikeville job.

I know who you are talking about but he left in spring and came back in Aug. Name not Harris though. There has been some leave but none that has helped Corbin or hurt LC.

I would not rule out a return to power, regardless of what Bell does. Single A schools can be turned around with far fewer quality players than what a larger school would need. Look at Lynn Camp with a roster that many years boasts only 20 to 30 players with a third of those being frosh.

I'm hearing Bart Elam is very popular among the Pineville administration and the parents. He works hard and is a good football mind. Don't write this program off just yet.

 

I am not writing it off I think that has all ready been that way for years. I think that it would take more than a miracle to turn things around. The might be able to score some points with that pass happy offense but when teams use this type of offense their deffense is very soft.
