This is the type of case in which Barack Obama repeatedly argued as an Illinois state senator that a hospital should not be required to render medical treatment to a live born baby in the event of a botched abortion.

 

If I did not have a long list of reasons for opposing Obama as a candidate, his belief that babies such as the one described in this article should be denied medial care would be enough reason for me to oppose him.

 

Premature baby 'comes back to life'

 

A premature baby who was pronounced dead "came back to life" Sunday after five hours in Nahariya Hospital.

 

The baby girl, who was in a cooler at the hospital, suddenly showed signs of life and was being treated in the premature baby unit.

 

Doctors estimated that the cooler brought the fetus "back to life."

 

The mother, 26, from a Western Galilee village, was in the fifth month of her pregnancy when she underwent a series of tests, during which it was discovered that she was suffering from internal bleeding and that the embryo had ceased to show signs of life.

 

The woman underwent an abortion and the baby, weighing 610 grams, was extracted from her womb without a pulse, hospital officials said.

 

A senior doctor pronounced the baby dead and she was transferred to the cooler.

 

Five hours later, the woman's husband came to the hospital to take what he thought was his dead baby girl for burial.

How can anyone, especially a Christian/Catholic, support a person who votes that way?

I agree 110%. Human life is sacred PERIOD.

The abortion of the baby described in the article was successful. She died early this morning in the neonatal intensive care unit and was taken to the morgue. At least she received medical treatment to ease her pain before falling victim to the abortionists.

 

Does anybody really believe that Obama would work to reduce the number of abortions in this country?

Barack Obama had a mini Bob Dole moment after the Saddleback presidential forum the other night. Asked on the Christian Broadcasting Network about a controversy over his opposition to legislation in Illinois protecting infants born alive after surviving abortions, an irked Obama replied, "I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying."

 

Obama's line recalled Dole's plaint on national TV after the first George Bush beat him in New Hampshire in 1988, "Tell him to stop lying about my record." Dole's outburst would live in infamy as evidence of his distemper. Obama's problem isn't his temperament, but the unsustainable exertions necessary to attempt to square his reasonable-sounding rhetoric on abortion with the extremism of his record.

 

Asked by Pastor Rick Warren when a baby gets rights, Obama said, "I'm absolutely convinced that there is a moral and ethical element to this issue." This is a crashing banality couched as thoughtfulness. If Obama is so sensitive to the moral element of the issue, why does he want to eliminate any existing restrictions on the procedure?

 

In 2007, Obama told the Planned Parenthood Action Fund that the Freedom of Choice Act would be the first piece of legislation that he would sign as president. The act would not only codify Roe v. Wade, but wipe out all current federal, state and local restrictions on abortion that pass muster under Roe, including the Hyde Amendment prohibiting federal funding of abortion. This is not the legislative priority of a man keenly attuned to the moral implications of abortion.

 

At Saddleback, Obama said determining when a baby gets rights is "above his pay grade." Leave aside that presidents usually have an opinion about who deserves legal rights. If Obama is willing to permit any abortions in any circumstances, he'd better possess an absolute certainty about the absolute moral nullity of the fetus.

The decision of when human beings should first be afforded human rights should remain above Barack Hussein Obama's pay grade. I would not want him in charge of my local 7-11. I certainly would not want him running my hospital.

 

In case anybody missed it, Obama has branded the National Right to Life Committee, Jill Stanek, and others who have dared to accurately describe his role in defeating the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act three times as an Illinois Senator as liars.

 

Is there no Obama supporter willing to defend him in this case? Regardless of your views on abortion, do you really want this man to have a say on how your medical care is delivered?

 

This issue, as much as any other, will keep Obama out of the White House. He has lied repeatedly about his role in this role and the record supports Stanek and the NRLC - not Obama.

 

As I understand it, this puts the burden on the attending physician who has determined, since they were performing this procedure, that, in fact, this is a nonviable fetus; that if that fetus, or child - however way you want to describe it - is now outside the mother's womb and the doctor continues to think that it's nonviable but there's, let's say, movement or some indication that, in fact, they're not just coming out limp and dead, that, in fact, they would then have to call a second physician to monitor and check off and make sure that this is not a live child that could be saved. - Illinois State Senate Transcript

You are correct - I was mistaken. The committee chaired by Obama defeated the bill that included the language that Obama said would have made the bill acceptable to him. In previous years, Obama had opposed the bill in committee and then voted "Present" on the floor.

 

The bottom line is that Obama voted against a version of the bill that he has been saying he would have supported during the entire campaign. Obama has lied repeatedly about his role in defeating the bill and he has been caught. Obama owes the people who he has called liars some real heartfelt apologies. He owes the newborn babies who died in agony without the benefit of any medical treatment more than an apology.
