What is a "Real Democrat"

Featured Replies

It worked great under Clinton. We had a balanced budget. The government has the resources to fix big problems alot better than the middle class does. I was asked about being a real democrat so I shared my ideas of what I believe this party stands for and what I personally believe and I find myself way to the left and in MORE agreement with the democratic party than the republican party.

No, it didn't.

I'm a real Democrat.

I get to vote in the primaries.

I get all the junk mail from the party.

What else is there?

A "REAL DEMOCRAT" IS...

A good person who cares about their country

Is patriotic

Is concerned more about environment than price of oil

Supports larger government

Supports unions and their fight against management

Believes government should control peoples actions

Believes government should solve social problems, if it does not, then raise taxes and spend more money on the problem....

Typically believes the President is responsible for providing health care, employment, education to all who live in the US (for free..)

Typically wants to tax the wealthy and give to the poor

Supports "peace" in the global structure of nations, but does so without supporting military infrastructure in the USA

Is excellent in identifing problems, yet not so skilled in solving the problems

Would rather talk about the problem and who is responsible, rather than, working on solving the problem

Votes when it is convienient

Exhibits strong support among other Democrats

Typically votes along party line regardless of candidate

Believes in "change" such that one person can make a difference in the world

Typically gathers support from the unemployed, uneducated, those folks which have been delt an unfair hand in the process of life

The democrats typically serve as the conscienceness of our nation

Play an integral role in US politics, foriegn policy and government spending

These are of course generalities and sterotypes, however, I would say that if you examine them for what is said, you may see some truth in them.....

THIS LIST IN NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE. JUST SOME OF MY LIFELONG OBSERVATIONS. IF YOU THINK THIS IS BAD, YOU SHOULD SEE MY "WHAT IS A REAL REBUBLICAN" LIST....

There's more to Trickle Down than tax cuts for the wealthy.
I'm far from wealthy, the tax cuts sure were nice for me.

The government we've had during the last 8 years of this Republican administration has bloated to the point of being "Big Government." Structurally, however, it has become a hollow shell, due to the proliferation of privatization.

And it's funny to me that corporations and Wall Street don't mind Socialism when it comes to bail-outs and subsidies. It's only the rest of the time that they prefer their "free trade" brand of Capitalism.

As to what makes a real Democrat or Republican, we've gotten so far away from that; I can't really answer. I'm afraid this current two-party system is going to be our downfall.

Well stated.
