August 21, 200818 yr I believe this is the Georgia Southern team that last year beat Appalachian State who beat Michigan (at Ann Arbor) and went on to win the National ChampionshipWhich is irrelevant to what they did in 2005, when they drilled Morehead and didn't get past the first round of the I-AA playoffs. Morehead has played in 3 Pioneer championship games (2003-2005). The Pioneer League includes Dayton that has beaten some OVC teams in the past. This could be interpreted as a strong point for the Pioneer League or not much of an endorsement for the OVC. My point is, it is tough to take one game and label an entire conferenceWho from the Pioneer League has beaten an OVC team? The OVC is the worst scholarship league in I-AA ... its record in the I-AA playoffs in recent years is horrible.
August 21, 200818 yr I think closer to IAA. Morehead’s conference includes Drake (who Morehead shut out last year but they beat IAA scolly school Illinois State who beat Murray), Dayton (who Morehead also beat last year but they beat scolly schools Robert Morris, Fordam and Albany) Jacksonville (open with App State this years), and San Diego (I believe two players in NFL camps). Morehead also beat St. Francis (PA) another Northeast Conference school that offers scollys. Each year, Morehead schedules a full fledged IAA scholarship team, this year its Eastern and I hear next year Wooford, who is in the same conference as App State.I don't think the Northeast (Robert Morris, St. Francis and Albany included) is a scholarship I-AA league. Fordham is in the Patriot League, which doesn't award athletic grants.
August 21, 200818 yr Well, thank you. His family is pretty great, aren't they? :ylsuper::banana: Well, there may be couple of exceptions.:sssh:
August 21, 200818 yr Author I said it's closer to Division III level than Division I-AA, not that it was equal to Division III. I know exactly what levels I'm talking about. Morehead was 8-4 in 2005, including a 63-17 loss to a Georgia Southern team that lost in the first round of the I-AA playoffs. That's not much of an endorsement for the Pioneer League. Then was a 31-6 loss (21-0 at halftime) to Western Illinois the next year, and Western Illinois was 5-6 that year. That doesn 't say much at all. Many I-AA schools got beat bad by I-AA playoff schools. That doesn't sale your point to well. Your saying that Morehead is like a DIII school? Gimme a break. Like I said, it's your opinion. I respect that, although you'll never convince me or probably anyone else for that matter so I'm not going to argue this with you.

Gimme a break. Like I said, it's your opinion. I respect that, although you'll never convince me or probably anyone else for that matter so I'm not going to argue this with you.I said that the level of play exhibited by Morehead (and the Pioneer League in general) is closer to Division III than the highest levels of Division I-AA. I think the Morehead scores against higher-level I-AA teams (like the examples I gave) bear that out. They're a long way from that level.
August 22, 200818 yr My bad on Fordam, they may be in a "need based" scholly league like the Ivy, but I think the Pat. league champ goes to the IAA playoff as Fordam did last year. The NEC however, offers schollys and plans to increase their numbers. http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080701/SPORTS02/80701088/1010
August 22, 200818 yr The NEC offers 30 scholarships, which is less than half that allowed in I-AA ... meaning they are still a long way from being at the highest levels of the division.
August 22, 200818 yr I agree with you. Westsider's boat is taking on water fast. If I understand the analogy that westsider is making, then because Vanderbilt in the past has had poor records against about anybody they played, then the SEC is a weak conference. How about Oklahoma losing their last 4 playoff games? Does that make them a bad team in a weak conference? This is my last comment on this subject, No matter where these kids go play ball, no matter what division, they are realizing a dream not only for themselves but for their family, their community, and for the players that follow them. They should be congradulated for their sacrifice and dedication in order to represent so many people. That doesn 't say much at all. Many I-AA schools got beat bad by I-AA playoff schools. I think the Morehead scores against higher-level I-AA teams (like the examples I gave) bear that out. They're a long way from that level. Your skipping a whole division of college football. I could maybe see your point if you were saying DII, I still wouldn't agree but I could understand your point. Morehead is NOT like a DIII school is anyway shape or form. JMO!! I'm done with thi argument. If you want to debate Morehead's football prestige go start a forum. This thread was to inform some people who frequently ask me about Kasey of his intention and progress. If you have any questions or comments on THAT matter I will be more than happy to answer them. If not, start a thread.
August 22, 200818 yr Kasey Clark transfers to Morehead State was what this thread was about. Not putting down MSU. I will get this back on track. Good luck to him and MSU. I feel he will do very well at Morehead. It is a great school and a great place to earn a college education.
