Well, thank you. His family is pretty great, aren't they? :ylsuper::banana:

Morehead is Division I-AA (or FCS, in the current terminology), but doesn't offer scholarships, so it's essentially like Division III football. I'm guessing the transfer rules are relaxed when a player leaves a scholarship program to go to a non-scholarship program.

Not exactly. Morehead used to play in the same division as Murray State so they're not essentally a D-III school at all. Many D-IAA schools do not offer schollys. That doesn't mean they are any less of a D-IAA school than the rest. They have other schollys available other than football.

The whole tranfer thing is a bit confusing. I know a kid from Georgetown who transfered to MSU, but he has to sit. I assume it's because he was moving up. I don't know if it is because Kasey was a walk on at Murray that he won't have to sit.

Every time I think I have it figured out...somebody moves it.

Georgetown is an NAIA school, so NCAA rules are probably a little different on that.

I think Clark was redshirted last year ... if so, that may have some bearing on it, too.

The rules are exactly the same for both.

Morehead used to play in the OVC, but they are non-scholarship now, just like Division III schools. They are not on the level of scholarship I-AA programs.

I didn't say they are a Division III program, but the level of football they play, I suspect, is closer to Division III than the higher levels of Division I-AA.

He did reshirt last year but that has nothing to do with whether he is deemed eligible for this year though. We've been told that they are pretty sure he WILL be eligible but nothing is ever for sure with the NCAA. We shoud know something soon.

No way they are on the level of DIII. I see what your saying but I think your getting your levels mixed up. Morehead State is a DI-AA school, then comes D-II, THEN comes D-III. I see you point, you're saying that the football competition level at Morehead is not as high as a scholly schools' level. I think you just got your wording mixed up. I think that there may be a slight drop but not much, definately not on a D-II level. That's just my opinion though, you have yours and I respect that.

The main reason for the transfer being that Kasey has a sick grandfather and his mother would not have been able to go to Murray to watch him play. Kasey loved Murray as well as his family did but this just meant more to him than staying at Murray. Now his entire family and friends can come watch him play every home game. His mother can come and be back to the area quickly if anything should happen.

I believe he ran a 4.6 after he bulked up at Murray. He had ran a 4.56 before that last year. He hasn't ran since he was asked to loose the weight and now he is 6'1 and 208 pds.

I said it's closer to Division III level than Division I-AA, not that it was equal to Division III.

I know exactly what levels I'm talking about.

Morehead was 8-4 in 2005, including a 63-17 loss to a Georgia Southern team that lost in the first round of the I-AA playoffs. That's not much of an endorsement for the Pioneer League. Then was a 31-6 loss (21-0 at halftime) to Western Illinois the next year, and Western Illinois was 5-6 that year.

Unlike other sports, NCAA college football has a Division 1AA division also. A major realignment came in 1979, when the NCAA established a Division I-AA for schools that have strong over-all athletic programs but aren't among the major football powers. Unlike the Division 1A conferences, these conferences playdown for a championship

NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) Conferences

NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision is the new name for Division 1AA effective 2007. Links for the NCAA Division 1AA Football Conferences to our information pages are below. Each page contains all the contact information for the conference and teams. In addition the football conference champions can be accesed from these pages

I believe this is the Georgia Southern team that last year beat Appalachian State who beat Michigan (at Ann Arbor) and went on to win the National Championship

Morehead has played in 3 Pioneer championship games (2003-2005). The Pioneer League includes Dayton that has beaten some OVC teams in the past. This could be interpreted as a strong point for the Pioneer League or not much of an endorsement for the OVC. My point is, it is tough to take one game and label an entire conference

I admire the young man for thinking of family first. I was able to see him play some in the 2006 championship game and I have seen Morehead State play. They have some legimate 4.3 running backs and they lost a lot of defensive players. Does he have a preference where he wants to play--offense vs defense?

I think closer to IAA. Morehead’s conference includes Drake (who Morehead shut out last year but they beat IAA scolly school Illinois State who beat Murray), Dayton (who Morehead also beat last year but they beat scolly schools Robert Morris, Fordam and Albany) Jacksonville (open with App State this years), and San Diego (I believe two players in NFL camps). Morehead also beat St. Francis (PA) another Northeast Conference school that offers scollys. Each year, Morehead schedules a full fledged IAA scholarship team, this year its Eastern and I hear next year Wooford, who is in the same conference as App State.
