What's disappointing is that essentially Japan got a mulligan on the game they lost to the US a couple days ago. For some reason they set it up so that the top 2 teams play in Game 1 of the "Elimination Round", and then the 3 & 4 teams play in Game 2. The winner of Game 1 advances to the gold medal game, the loser of Game 1 plays the winner of Game 2, which makes no sense. So Japan lost to the US, got to play Australia in the bronze medal game (where the loser gets the bronze), and then play the US again in the gold.
