Before 92 the USA got beat in the Olympics so the USA was not dominating like they always have in softball.

It is a shame that they are getting dropped. I love baseball but don't watch much during the Olympics. I like watching the sports that I normally don't get to see or watch during the year. I also like the sports that I have never watched very much.

They can be brought back for the 2016 (I hope they do) if the IOC votes them to. But I doubt they will. Just not enough competition in Africa/Europe which are major players in the olympics. We'll see another sport that many of us have never heard of but is popular all across the globe.

I am the same way sweet16, which is why I think swimming and gymnastics are always big hits...because you can't see them on a regular basis. I love Team Handball myself.

It's mainly because the Europeans don't play softball or baseball much and the Olympics are geared toward European interests. One of the reasons why they are dropping both sports. Word has it, cricket will likely be the next sport added. Climbing could also be added. Where are they most popular?

 

Kinda hard to do that while swimming. IMO, it's sorta like a chest bump.
