August 9, 200818 yr I missed them and I am so bummed. I heard at times when they took pictures that the haze of polution was so bad that you couldn't see.
August 9, 200818 yr The entire opening ceremony was awesome. The creativity was great as was the execution of all the 2008 people dancing together in marshal arts style movements. The lighting of the torch where the guy ran around the top of the stadium was just amazing. We might not have 100% freedom of the press there, but so far I'm impressed.
August 9, 200818 yr I really didn't think anything could top the emotion of when Ali lit the torch in Atlanta I believe. Last night easily topped that, the guy running as the scrolled unraveled. You get images of everywhere in the world the torch has been. Just stunning.
August 9, 200818 yr We went to the Legends game last night, so missed the ceremony. The highlights I've seen today looked amazing.
August 11, 200818 yr The story about the little boy with Yao Ming was just amazing! If you missed it: He is 9 years old, and was a student at a school destroyed in the recent earthquake. Twenty of his thirty classmates were killed. He crawled out of the rubble and freed himself. But then he went back in and rescued two classmates. When asked why he did that he said, he did it because he was a class leader and a hall monitor and it was his responsibility. :cry: Of course the rest of the story is....The parents of the dead students who were beaten and arrested for protesting the fact that school were built so poorly. The gov't said they had no right to object. But that is agreat story about the kid. And the ceremony bits and pieces I saw were spectacular.
