Playstation 3 or Xbox 360?

Featured Replies

I know there is already a few threads about this but I would just like some honest opinions on which is best for my type of gaming. I am looking to buy a new system just not really sure on which to get. I had to sell my 360 a few months ago to afford to go on spring break and finally got enough cash to get a new one. I had some problems with my 360's ( the one I sold I believe was my 4th one) but I loved every minute of playing it. I don't know if I wanna shell out all my money for a new 360 since I have already had one for a couple years and maybe I should try out the PS3 since I can get it for almost the same price.

I have read countless reviews and debates from all over the web and most of them just seem like biased opinions. I play mostly NCAA Football, Madden, NBA 2K games, and some shooters.

I am kinda leaning toward the PS3 because of the built in wireless and MGS4 but don't want many dissapointments because I know I won't have any with the 360. I love the 360 handles and the XBOX live but it will be nice not having to pay for online service with the PS3. Please help!

What kinda tv will you be playing it on?

TV really has very little to do with what system to buy...It's about gaming, great experience and great titles...

IMO, Microsoft Xbox 360 is the best way to go...They really stepped up at E3 and has a nice wave of games coming out..

Some titles include:

Gears of War 2

Fallout 3

Silent Hill: Homecoming

Resident Evil 5

Call of Duty: World at War

Final Fantasy XIII

Not to mention the online capability and how easy it is..Microsoft has partnered with Netflix to offer thousands more DVD rentals over the Xbox console...A new dashboard interface allows people over Xbox live to play games together including 1 vs. 100...

Part of the new update includes a way where you can download games from the disc to your dashboard to help minimize load times.

If we're talking gaming, strictly gaming, then it's the XBox 360 no doubt. The only thing that really keeps PS3 in conversations is that it has the Blu-Ray player as well, which is a huge selling point for most. While the PS3 is a more powerful system, the reality is that the game support is not there at the moment the way it is on the 360. Other than MSG4, I'm hard pressed to think of a single exclusive game that PS3 has that is considered a Killer App.

Resident Evil 5

I do have to point out that Gears of War 2 is the only exclusive title for the 360 from this list. All others will be available on both, but as I said in my post, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy are no longer exclusive and as such are no longer selling points for Sony. Neither franchise has ever appeared on the XBox.

Thanks alot guys, I have decided I am going to stick with Xbox but should I get just the 360 Pro or the Elite? I will save $150 by going with the Pro and I don't really care about how many videos and photos I can save on my Xbox. Is that the only difference between them?

That's why I was listing them with the 360...With the PS2 and PS3..Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, along with MGS, they were big sellers because they were exclusive..Well that has went out the window so that brings Sony down a level. Microsoft has the upper hand right now..

I haven't done research on the 360 but as far as I know the elite has a bigger hard drive and that's the only difference.

Also forgot to mention that the 360 will have Halo Wars.

If you like movies in high definition, go with the PS3. If you like hardcore online gaming, go with the 360. I have an Xbox 360 and I love it. My roomate bought the PS3, but mainly just for the bluray. I'll probably get a PS3 later on down the road when I have more money, but I will probably only be getting it for the Blu ray.

The bigger hard drive is the only difference now between the Elite and the Pro. Both now have HDMI ports and they both have the updated chipset that is supposed to reduce RRODs.

Thanks for all the help, I don't really care about Blu-ray and don't need all the hard drive space so im just gonna stick with the Xbox Pro and spend the rest of the cash that I would've spent on the PS3 on games and accessories.
