August 4, 200818 yr You guys also have no evidence that says he isn't the best option, but you all make assumptions that others would do better, why can't we do the same? Here's why my logic works better than yours: JR ALWAYS batted 3rd. How do we measure the success of someone like Votto or Dunn batting 3rd when it never happened? You guys ever do science experiements?
August 4, 200818 yr Please! When were they a .500 team with JR hitting in any spot?Lack of Pitching and quality MLB players.
August 4, 200818 yr No but if he is hitting #3 on your team at this point in his career you team will be no better than .500 just like it has been the last 4 years with him in that spot. Kinda like if Adam Dunn is the focal point of your offense, you'll never be better than .500?
August 4, 200818 yr Adam is the best position player on this team so thats not the case. We would have the hardest time replacing his numbers over anyone else's by far. Now you are trying to Spin this off into a well Adam Dunn sucks blah blah. Griffey isn't a 3 hitter on any good team in the MLB bottom line.
August 4, 200818 yr Author Please! When were they a .500 team with JR hitting in any spot? Did you miss the first post? THIS YEAR!
August 4, 200818 yr Did you miss the first post? THIS YEAR! Unfortunately they count all the games when posting the standings. They have never been a winning team with JR. Now you can go back and select certain time frames, a week here and a circumstance there, but that just doesn't work.
August 4, 200818 yr Author They are like 10 over .500 when Hairston hits leadoff. With your guys reasoning, you would discard this stat and not give it any weight in batting Hairston leadoff.

Now you can go back and select certain time frames, a week here and a circumstance there, but that just doesn't work. Here is the unfortunate thing you guys won't want to hear. With Jr in the 3 hole, they are a 500 club. With your guys' wish of someone else, that drove them way below .500.
August 4, 200818 yr Author BTW, for the record, I think the trade of Jr was a good trade. It was smart to move him at this time.
August 4, 200818 yr Here is the unfortunate thing you guys won't want to hear. With Jr in the 3 hole, they are a 500 club. With your guys' wish of someone else, that drove them way below .500. Because they put a rookie in that spot to learn it for the future of the team of course they are going to struggle.
August 4, 200818 yr With your guys reasoning, you would discard this stat and not give it any weight in batting Hairston leadoff. No, by our reasoning we look at as "interesting" and not as a an indicator of success. However, if you made me choose which one I put more stock in, I'd take Hairston at leadoff. At least he has had individual success which contributed to wins.
August 4, 200818 yr With Jr in the 3 hole, they are a 500 club. With your guys' wish of someone else, that drove them way below .500. Again, this could not any more absurd when it comes to analysis and it reeks of fanaticism.
August 4, 200818 yr In July the Reds had a 4-game win streak with JR batting 3/13 in the 3 hole. You think 3/13 is why the Reds had a win streak? LBBC - why did you ignore this one?
