August 2, 200818 yr Author 1. Nah then that would make it easy on you guys. I went through the time to find the article, the least you could do is read the whole thing, and not my interpretation. 2. When he ran against Keyes in 2004, Keyes was for cutting a check to the African American's and exempting them from taxes for 2 years. Obama clearly says that he feel just cutting a check isn't productive. So yes, I think it is really clear for someone who is being reasonable. :bunny: 2 years ago? He changes his opinion weekly, how can you rely on something from 2 years ago?

All I did was ask for some common courtesy.
August 2, 200818 yr Apparently he is not against reparations. What he says is that the reparations should be in the form of actually improving the living conditions of the descendents of slavery, not by giving them a handout of cash. The reparations should be in the form of rebuilding the dilapidated schools and community centers that have been neglected for so long. The reparations should be in the form of normalizing race relations and insuring that people are not discriminated against b/c of their race. So okay you guys - you got him. He is for reparations. Do you feel better now?
August 2, 200818 yr Let me ask you first, What type of reparations are you opposed to? The reparations in the traditional sense? Any and all.
August 2, 200818 yr 2 years ago? He changes his opinion weekly, how can you rely on something from 2 years ago? I believe that there is nothing wrong for changing opinions when you become more educated on the subject. If McCain went to Sri Lanka and changed his stance on our foreign policy with Sri Lanka; I would see it as a attempt to change his position to reflect his better education on the subject. This is something that I believe he is quite educated on, so I don't see him changing this position. BTW, Sri Lanka is just off the top of my head.

Do you feel better now? Washington, DC spends more on its public schools than almost any other district in the country. How is that working out for them?
August 2, 200818 yr Any and all. So you have a problem with rebuilding dilapidated schools? Helping those who are genuinely struggling? These are the only thing close to reparations he has proposed;and they aren't even limited to one race.

While I agree to a certain degree, Obama is constantly changing his views. Are you telling me the man is that uneducated or is he placating to every audience he faces?
August 2, 200818 yr If you want to ask and answer your own questions, then you do not need to involve me in the process. It was a simple question....
August 2, 200818 yr While I agree to a certain degree, Obama is constantly changing his views. Are you telling me the man is that uneducated or is he placating to every audience he faces? I do not think he is constantly changing his view...I think he has refined his view a few times; He has flipped flopped a couple times, but I don't see this as a bad thing.
August 2, 200818 yr Author So you have a problem with rebuilding dilapidated schools? Helping those who are genuinely struggling? August 2, 200818 yr Oh, that's rich. Now, Obama is for everything that he has never explicitly said he is against. That is an argument so fallacious it deserves to be applied to McCain too. Hey everybody, McCain is for running over old ladies crossing the street! He never said he wasn't, so he must be. Uh, oh, you said the word!! Look out !!!!
August 2, 200818 yr Author I do not think he is constantly changing his view...I think he has refined his view a few times; He has flipped flopped a couple times, but I don't see this as a bad thing.Come on now Gooch, he's in double digits, that doesn't equate to a few.
August 2, 200818 yr Will new schools satisfy those that think reparations are due and how will it ensure they will go to school? That is the thing. You have accused Obama of not taking unpopular stances. This is a very unpopular stance with a lot of the Obama base! Most would rather him just cut a check to everyone and be done with it, but he recognizes that this wont work.
