July 30, 200818 yr For those who would vote to overturn the RvW - would you be willing to take in one of these unwanted children? If it would save them from being aborted? I believe that there are plenty of people in this country who would be willing to adopt these children. My Aunt and Uncle just returned from China with a new 4 year old girl with club feet. This is their second Chinese adoption. The process to get this children is very long and very expensive. I'm sure it would be much easier and cheaper for them to adopt an American born child if available.
July 30, 200818 yr I read a study about 10-15 years ago from Planned Parenthood, which put the number of abortions for birth control reasons at approximately 94%. With an estimated 3500 abortions per day in this country, that is 3,290 babies aborted EVERY DAY for birth control reason.
July 30, 200818 yr Given the enormous number of potential parents that are waiting and desire healthy babies to adopt, I'm not sure this question leads you down a path you want to go. I agree that the adoption laws and red tape are rediculous and impede many children from being in happy homes. If you add a million or so more unwanted children in the world I would think that those things would have to be changed. Even with those changes I would venture to say that there would be many more needy children than there are loving homes with open arms.
July 30, 200818 yr This is an open forum topic, IMO. I really just want to get some dialogue going about solutions. There is thread after thread after thread after thread beating up the topics of R v W, of right vs. wrong, of Christian vs. non-Christian, vs. not-good-Christian debate. That gets us no where. It's my FIRM belief that solution is NOT overturning R v. W. I have quite a few ideas for solutions. But rather than post my list, I'd like to see others ideas. Surely someone has some ideas. I've worked with women making their choices. I've heard all kinds of stories, and I've helped try to find solutions to all kinds of obstacles. So, I do have some ideas. The problem is, there are far more people out there willing to go to bat to overturn R v W, and too few willing to find solutions so a girl doesn't find themselves considering abortion a better choice that giving birth. It's not an argument I'm after, it's a real discussion of possible solutions. OK, here then: The girls I have dealt with (several) with this issue consider abortion for three reasons: 1) at an early stage, they do not desire for someone, typically parents, to find out: a) that they had sex; b) that they had sex with a certain person; c) that they were stupid enough to have unprotected sex; d) some combination of the above. 2) that having a pregnancy and a baby would interfere with schooling or a career choice; 3) that they simply would be inconvenienced by the physical manifestations and so-forth associated with a 9 month pregnancy. There are many other potential reasons than these obviously, but I would be willing to wager that these 3 make up the bulk. Maybe we can start on these and go from there.

My experiences would concur with this.
July 30, 200818 yr I don't feel that any pregnancy is a mistake....People know the risks involved in their actions so I can't comment on this without bringing criticism into it.

I would agree that the churches would need to do a major push on their congregations to open their homes more and step up to the plate and show these children and these women the love of Jesus Christ through adoption.

If you don't like the way I post a topic, could you please PM me in the future? Those are some reasons. What do you feel are viable solutions?
July 30, 200818 yr I don't feel that any pregnancy is a mistake....People know the risks involved in their actions so I can't comment on this without bringing criticism into it. But they don't want to be accountable for those mistakes and feel that society shouldn't force them to be accountable for that mistake.

OK...so....it's still unplanned. What do you feel are some solutions to women who find themselves in this position?
July 30, 200818 yr OK...so....it's still unplanned. What do you feel are some solutions to women who find themselves in this position? There's only 2 choices. 1) Take responsibility for your actions (both mother and father) and raise the child. 2) Have the child and give it up for adoption knowing you can't provide the type of upbringing the child will need.

Those aren't solutions. Those are edicts. HOW do we assist these women in their choice to carry their child, and then to keep it, or assist in arranging adoption?
