Dusty was not given a good hand to start, with the present roster. They do have some young players, and mistakes are going to happen. With young players you can handle physical mistakes, but what should not be tolerated is the mental mistakes especially with veterans.

 

This team fundamentally, is not good. Bad in the field, porous starting pitching, continuing to make mental errors on the bases and in the field, such as backing up bases, covering bases, and so forth. That is a direct indictment on the staff.

 

There is a laissez-faire attitude in the clubhouse, and IMO that starts with Griffey. It will be interesting to see how that changes once he is gone, but Dusty seemingly allows it.

I have gone from shipping Dunn to keeping him. I would like them to surround him with some players. For example, someone threw a stat out that Dunn drives in runs when there are runners on base...even at a better clip than Josh Hamilton. Griffey has rubbed off on Dunn.

 

Dusty gets a C- from me because the team is so wretched fundamentally. The season is toast, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the year plays out because they are soon to be delegated to page 4 of the sports page.

I can't be objective on Dusty in the big picture for two reasons: Griffey in the 3 hole and batting Patterson leadoff. Him at leadoff following the pitcher is 2 easy outs.

 

Those 2 make me question Dusty's ability to be detached and make the tough necessary calls.

I agree with you and have read all your posts. Just don't think that he has the team to manage without some fire. Too young, not enough leadership from the veteran players and that has to come from somewhere. I think Dusty is a poor manager.
